Atmosphere will definitely put you in the mood for Italiano--the high ceilings, pillars, artwork. very tasteful and spacious.
Don't forget the cannolis---they taste just like the ones I've had in NY.

I love everything about Manny's, best sandwiches anywhere, love the history as well, just wish they had one up north or in the western suburbs.
Pros: Great Sandwiches and potato pancakes.
Cons: Need a location near Ashland and Wellington :)

I grew up in an Italian neighborhood and this place takes me back. This place is hands down THE BEST place for Sub sandwiches. Everything is always fresh and you just cannot beat the price. There is ALWAYS a line in there, but the service is excellent and fast. It is definately worth the wait. If you are in a hurry, call and order ahead. About 2 months ago, I bought a prime rib roast from the butcher. It was also the best that I have ever had ANYWHERE! Also, stop by next door to D'amato's Bakery. They use coal fired ovens to bake their bread and it is simply wonderful. 2 VERY AUTHENTIC Italian places still left in the City. I consider myself a very lucky patron of both...Keep up the good work guys!! Frank the butcher is wonderful!! Please don't ever change!!
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Small space, no parking lot, short hours on Sunday

Roscoe Village has a landmark, and its Costello's. Most people when you ask them if they have ever been to Roscoe Village they say, yeah that have that killer sandwhich shop there!!
I ate there before I moved to RV and years later when I moved across the street from it, it became a staple in my diet for sure!
I usually get the italian since I am a creature of habit, but all of their sandwhiches are top notch and reasonably priced too!
The pasta salads are ok, nothing great but I go there for the sandwhiches.
Pros: Italian Subs and Wraps
Cons: Sides are weak

What can you say....France's is a great sandwich shop especially the Turkey Ruben! This is the place to go when you are in need of a good sandwich. They use real fresh roasted turkey and it really makes a difference. Fortunately (or unfortunately for my hips) France's is in walking distance from our home. The only drawback is that the sandwiches are so good - and big that we never have enough room to try any desserts. The apple pie looks amazing though!
Pros: Great Sandwiches, Comfort Foods
Cons: Long Wait on Weekends

Bobak's really knows how to put on a spread! We have been going for years and have never been disappointed. The menu changes frequently (perhaps daily) and you may not find something you really wanted to try again on your second visit...but it will pop up on your third or fourth...Sundays are by far the best (and the busiest) with a couple of different prime meats (ham, turkey...pork roast...or, oh my, even smoked butt) and a big bowl of chilled shrimp. The adjacent grocery store is well stocked with lots of Bobak brand items. Prices are reasonable in both the restaurant and grocery.
Pros: Ample Parking
Cons: Short hours

As a season ticket holder to Steppenwolf, I eat at Marcello's 5-9 times per year. I must admit I usually order the same thing. I love the garlic oregano broasted chicken. I have never been disappointed. The food is of the highest quality , always served quickly and hot! Even when the joint is hopping, as it usually is on Saturday evenings, the service is efficient and gracious. They have the nicest waitstaff, and busboys!
There are many other restaurants in the area we could try, but we always end up back at Marcello's. I don't want to risk paying a lot of money for a mediocre meal. At Marcello's the food is very reasonably priced. My garlic oregano chicken always feeds me for two meals. By the way, the pizza is excellent too! Keep up the good work, Marcello's!
PROS: highest quality, great value, gracious service, wonderful variety
CONS: parking can sometimes be a pain, they do have valet however

I've been to deli's all around the United States, and this one is possibly the best i've been to.
I ordered a sourdough toasted with ham and swiss, nothing special, but they used this butter that tasted oh so sweet and good.
Their service is excellent as well as their prices.

This place has great food. I've been in on weekdays and over the weekend. It's definitely busier on the weekend, but well worth it. I've had everything from the huevos rancheros to the bbq beef brisket sandwich. Everything is fresh and tasty. I'm definitely going back for more.
Pros: Corned beef and deli, pastries, eggs/omelettes
Cons: Still working through a few of the kinks, but nothing major
