Jia's is a great place to hit up in the city if you are looking for good Chinese food.
This place looks a bit if-y from the outside, but don't hesitate because on the inside it has a really nice atmosphere and is very well kep.
The menu is big and has many good options. They have your typical Chinese dishes and even sushi. The food is all good and prepared fresh.
The food is good and the service is really friendly too. For all that, it is not all that expensive either.

This place has great food. It's just a little storefront with a few booths but it's terrific. They sell the food in combinations or a la carte. Their prices are good and their food excellent. You can watch it get cooked or sit in a booth and wait ‘till its ready. Eat in, carry out or get it delivered. Great family run place right next to the laundromat.
Go there. You won't be disappointed.

If this isn't the best Chinese I've had in Chicago, it's easily the best I've had in a while. I ordered the hot and sour soup and the orange chicken and both were excellent. The hot and sour soup was very flavorful and the orange chicken was rich and crisp with just the right amount of spice. The presentation was beautiful, complete with a flower carved out of a vegetable. Based on reviews here, I expected parking to be a problem but I went on a Friday night and found plenty of street parking just South of the restaurant on Broadway. I was seated immediately and the service was similarly fast. I think the price put things just past inexpensive but it wasn't too expensive and the quality made it worth it.
Pros: Excellent food
Cons: Street parking (but not awful)

Great food in the Vietnamese area of Chicago. Prices were not too high and appropriate for the food. Staff was very friendly and it appears to be a nice family run business. Owner came out to talk with guests personally which shows great service. I would definetely recommend this restaurant. One thing to note is that there is no alcohol service, which may be true of all the restaurants in that area. However, they do allow you to bring your own alcohol in. I had really been wanting a glass of wine with dinner, so my husband walked to a liquor store and brought back a bottle of wine. Staff were very accommodating with providing a bottle opener and wine glasses.

A quiet atmosphere with the best Chinese food I have ever had. EVER. The portions are large and delicious, the restaurant is gorgeous, albeit retro. The walls are adorned with dragon ornamentation and the ceiling with traditional chandeliers.
The General Tso's chicken is my favorite dish; I have had it at many different restaurants. At Orange Gardens, it was tender and delicious and packed with fresh crisp veggies: onions, green peppers, and baby corns. The soda is by-the-can, but that is pretty much standard at most Chinese restaurants.
The wait staff is fast and efficient, but not chatty; most likely due to the language barrier. My only complaint out of several visits is the waiter once spilled my friends by-the-can Coke while delivering the food and did not replace it or credit the check for him. But this is one complaint out of several otherwise perfect visits.
The restaurant also offers pickup, but no delivery.

This restaurant is usually quiet and there is never a wait. It's a great place to take a family (I usually eat alone, but I have seen families with small children there) because the staff is very attentive to the needs of small (often fussy) kids. The food is good, it's a great place to go if you want the "traditional Chinese restaurant experience," complete with tea and cookies. It's right on the main drag, too, so it's a good place to stop in after a day of sightseeing and shopping in Chinatown. Cheap parking is available nearby in the Chinatown Parking Lot. Be sure to get your stub validated. The restaurant is also close to the Red Line. This is my favorite place to eat in Chinatown.
Pros: attentive staff, quiet, reliably good food
Cons: not too exciting

More
This little storefront gem in East Rogers Park is the place for a bare-bones, cheap Chinese meal that satisfies without emptying your pockets. For less than $15, you can enjoy two fulfilling entrees, a soup, appetizer and drink. The menu boasts the usual Chinese staples - Egg Foo Young, Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour, and Lo Mein. All are reasonably priced and quite delicious. It's a small establishment, so planning on dining in is not a good decision, unless you want to sit on stools facing the window. Yuens is strictly a take-out and delivery specialty. For a minimum order of $10, they will deliver piping hot goodness to your doorstep. If you order $20 or more, they will deliver to parts of Evanston. You must try this place because the food is fantastic, fresh tasting and well worth every penny. I usually order the Szechuan Broccoli, Combination Egg Foo Young, and Kung Pao Chicken. The dishes are well prepared and reheats nicely the next day. Any special requests are honored and your food arrives the way you ask. You're missing out on a great Chinese food experience if you haven't discovered Yuens.
Pros: Food, prices, and honored requests
Cons: Ambience and location
