i have finally gotten a chance to sit down and write this review. I enjoy writing reviews about new places i've been, partly because I love to read the reviews prior to going somewhere. so I decided to finally stop into the corner bakery after hearing such rave reviews. i was out shopping with some girlfriends of mine saturday morning when i remembered this place and suggested it for breakfast, and i am pleased to say im glad i thought of it. the cashiers were very polite. and the young lady that brought out our food was extremely sweet and very polite. she noticed when we were finished with our meal and cleared our table so we could talk and relax. i believe she told us her name was carry. there were actually 3 young ladies i specifcally noticed, cleaning tables and bringing out food that morning and always making sure to keep the place neat. i felt very welcome here and would highly recommend it as a great lunch spot. i have been told, however; to avoid the mid afternoon rush as it tends to be hectic and difficult to find seats. other than that i would say its a very well kept restaurant with very tastey food.
Pros: the employees and of course the food!
Cons: the price

Corner Bakery seems ubiquitous, and yet, I like it. I think this is a pretty good alternative to fast food dining. Corner Bakery offers fresh salads, soup, pasta, sandwiches to order, and all too tempting desserts. As part of the Lettuce Entertain You conglomerate, it has a high standard of quality. They have good soft drinks, and their ice tea is top notch. There are several locations. My three favorites are in the Cultural Center (where you can use it as a supplement to your home-packed lunch and always find a seat, and sometimes some music), the Field Museum (a good alternative to McDonald's downstairs), and the mall at Old Orchard. Look for specials at Christmas time, where you can purchase $100 of dining dollars and receive $120, and these are good not only at Corner Bakery, but any Lettuce restaurant, including Maggiano's. A great gift for a Chicago friend...or just a bargain for you.

This is a stupid story, but I find it very relevant. I was here the other day and ordered a bagel with cream cheese. They gave it to me and didn't charge me for the cheese. I am an honest person and when I noticed the problem I went back up to the front and told them the mistake. The manager came out thanked me and asked me if I wanted anything else for free to take with me instead of making me pay for it. I believe in kindness and doing business correctly. I will always choose this place for breakfast if I am in the loop.

I am a sucker for Panini Sandwiches so one night after work I was doing some shopping at the State Street Marshall Field and decided to go to here for dinner....I was definitely not disappointed. Their panini's are very tasty and they serve it with chips and a pickle. I was out more money than I had wanted to be but it was very satisfying and well worth it.
