This is one of my favorite places to eat Chinese food at near the city. They have a great menu and there's lots great specials on it. For their appetizers, the crab rangoon are the best. They have a lot of entrees too, but my favorite is the sesame beef. Its so flavorful and fresh. The service here is okay, it can be slow at times but the great food definitely makes up for that. Make sure to check their website before you for some money saving coupons (we got a free appetizer coupon last time).

So many wonderful stores and restaurants are closing down all the time. It breaks my heart when I see a favorite place going out of business. This is one little restaurant that deserves your attention. They make some of the best broasted chicken I have ever tasted, along with great fries and other side items. The people who work here are very friendly and welcoming. A modest but cozy dining area, but mostly you get it to go. A popular spot for Chicago's men in blue.

Few places that offer delivery of their food items are good enough that you would actually want to go and sit down at their restaurant. This place seems to be the exception to that rule. Calo's food is great delivered, but they also have a nice dining room and good service. The pizza is actually pretty decent and so are their other Italian entrées. I also highly recommend the antipasto. It's easy to get carried away here and want to order way more than you have room for!

I just heard on the radio yesterday that this great Chicago institution is closing in Feburary '06. That is so sad; another fixture of Chicago bites the dust.
This is a wonderful German-American restaurant that I have been going to since I was a kid. Its downtown location made it convenient for lunch while visiting the Art Institute or anything else downtown, or dinner before the theatre.
It has real career waiters, walnut walls, classic moderately priced meals. It is one of those reliable old places that always produced a good meal at a good price with decent service.
I remember going to the bar when I turned old enough to drink and happily quaffing the house dark beer.
Go quick!

Hackney’s is a popular place along Printers Row for a beer and a burger. You have to order an onion loaf, which is sort of like a mad scientist version of those fried onions in a canister. Even a small order is a huge hunk of onions. I have had the burgers made from beef, turkey, and buffalo.

I was downtown for a seminar today and had lunch at the ESPN Zone on Ohio Street. They seat single diners at the bar and that was fine. The bartender was busy but very nice. I got my lemonade right away and the appetizer, chile over cronbread in a skillet arrived quickly and was great.
For the bar, I could see the viewing area with ESPN showing on the big screen surrounded by monitors. One nice touch was that they has a scoreboard that was showing the schedules of the Bulls, The DePaul Blue Demons and my beloved University of Illinois Illini.
I enjoyed the lunch and hope to go there again.

This is a nice place to try out forsome Chinese food. They have a large menu with a few great options. Their fresh fruit smoothies are really tasty and make for a really refreshing drink in the summer. And they come in many different flavors. One thing I would recommend is carrying out from here and not dining in because this place is not all that well insulated; in the summers its really hot and in the winter it gets super cold

My friend works at Ina's and she's right: the self professed "Queen of Breakfast" is just that- delicious, above par and unforgettable. Unfortunately, the prices, decor, location and ambience are a little forgettable. The prices are high and the crowd is aptly bougeois and the location is nice, but bland-ish and hard to find. Still, if you want to try a good breakfast, go do it- but if you have other, more pertient plans, I'd say skip it, and save it for when you're feeling...more yuppified.
