I now live in Virgina but I come home to Chicago, I MUST get some popcorn! I don't mind the line, I have been eating this stuff since I was 10 years old. I bring some back with me to VA and always have to hide a little stash for myself because my co-workers go crazy over it, not to mention my husband and son who eat theirs and come looking for more. The greasy bag is part of the ambiance of the place!

A large, banquet hall style pizza place. Suited perfectly for parties. Very nice pizza that won't disappoint. While your busy party waits for it, they can much on Pete's wonderful bread with olive oil and parmesan. Try not to fill up on it, though it might be hard.
The place to throw a fun, family pizza party on North Milwaukee is Pete's, where great pizza is truly better enjoyed dine-in.

This is a fantastic produce market! They've got lots of fresh items and everything is super cheap. You can get a whole cart-full of things for $20 - $30. They've got free parking which is great. Aside from produce they also have fun items like dried fruit and chips and things. Their fruit is always awesome too!

This is one of my absolute favorite businesses in Hyde Park. It's a small, independant, produce store, with a variety of other staple grocey items. The price-to-quality ratio on their produce is excellent, and their selection is surprisingly good given their small size.
You aren't going to find everything you need here, but their stock is consistent. If it's there one week, it's pretty much going to be there the next, unlike certain cooperative grocery stores that will remain nameless.
I always go to Hyde Park Produce first and then fill in the gaps at other places. What they do have, they do well, and I can often do all my shopping there.

This is a great place to go and pick up bulk treats for your family! Over Easter I went here and got some great treats for the entire family. They had lots to choose from, like jelly beans and chocolate eggs. They also have lots of other things like chocolate covered nuts and gummi candy. One of my favorite things to do is walk over here on a summer day and get a nice cup of ice cream from them and then sit out on the tables and enjoy it while people watching! The kids love it as well!

Nuts on Clark is a great place to stop for some great treats. This place has great nuts and chocolates that you can buy in bulk. The best thing they have here are the chocolate covered cashes. The cashews are big and really tasty, while the chocolate is rich and sweet. This is also a good place to pick up a gift pack or box for somebody your having trouble shopping for!

Far East is a great place to get good thai food. The thai food they serve here is really tasty and one of the best around.
Make sure that when you go here you have their crab rangoon and pad thai. Both of those menu items are superb and a must try. The crab rangoon was suggested to me by one of their waitresses and I was blown away by this dish because it was so good!
The waitresses here are really friendly and will treat you right no matter what time of day you go in and not matter how big or small your party is.

The Egg Store has a very low selection of eggs. However, it sells lots of other food and produce. The vegetables are usually fresh, and there is good variety. They even sell bok choy and other Asian produce, which can't be found at your local supermarket. All in all, it is a small store which sells eggs and more.

Located on the Northwest side of the city (Portage Park area) is this popular store. This is a fantastic produce market that also has a big grocery section and good meat and dairy departments. I now know why this place is usally crowded; everything is first rate. You will really get some good deals here. Close to Six Corners where the Sears is.

I am not the kind of person to go out of my way to eat fruit or take vitamins, or in any way ensure that I get the right kind of nutrition. So I like that I can go to Jamba Juice and they will make me one of their many concoctions and hand it to me, and then all I have to do is drink it and feel like I'm actually consuming something healthy! One of their smoothies can be good for breakfast, for a snack, for dessert, or just because! I especially like the ones with yogurt in them. They are also pretty good about getting you in and out of there - long lines go down pretty fast.
