I love this store. I wish it was closer to where I lived. It's easy to get lost browsing here. If you ever feel like giving up on the written word just pop in here for an afternoon. They have a great selection and the neighborhood is a lot of fun too.

This is a cute little bookshop on Broadway. Its a very cute little bookshop with lots of neat little finds. It doesn't always have all the conventional best sellers but it has lots of rare, old finds that are harder to find at the bigger bookstores. Its organized nicely and has a very homely feel to it. You can easily spent lots of time here just browsing and picking out books. This is one you have to really check out!

Having lived around the corner from Unabridged Books for 4 years I can say it is one place to block out a few hours and spend that time perusing the books that fill up the store. There have been many a great books I have found in the sale selection that were terrific literary finds. I am so grateful that they have this section as I can think of a number of books that I found there that I probably would not have come across had it not been for their placement on the sale shelves at Unabridged. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive and helpful. The selection of books is diverse and intriguing. The music playing in the background creates this relaxing atmosphere that is worth taking a few hours and exploring all this bookstore has to offer.

If you live in Wrigleyville/Lakeview and believe in supporting locally owned businesses, then you can't afford to miss Unabridged Books. This longtime Lakeview business has a terrific selection of fiction and non-fiction books (including a sizable gay and lesbian selection). Unabridged Books has a great reputation in the literary community, and well-known authors frequently make it a stop on their book tours for readings and signings. I particularly appreciate the handwritten notecards taped to the shelves adjacent to many books, describing books that a particular staff member recommends. Don't be deceived by the relatively small storefront appearance -- the selection also extends into the basement.
