When I moved to Chicago last summer, I planned on donating 10 inches of my hair to Locks of Love. This program trades free haircuts for your donation of hair (which is then used to create wigs for sick children). I called the Anna George Salon to see if they participate in this program and they said absolutely yes. After my haircut, however, the stylist demanded that I send my own hair to the Locks of Love headquarters (which no other salon has EVER asked me); she literally handed me my pony tail of hair. THEN the salon charged me FULL price for the cut. When I asked why there was a charge when I was donating my hair, they looked totally confused and said it was non-negotiable; I must pay the whole price even though they had earlier said that they participate in Locks of Love. When I tried to pay for the cut with a credit card, the lady behind the counter threw a fit. I hoped, though, that this was just a bad day because I did like the cut. I gave them a second chance and went back a few months later. First of all, the salon was filthy. The sink in the bathroom didn't even work. After my dye job, the stylist said, "Let me dry your hair for you." Of course, I accepted, since it was 10 degrees outside! When I tried paying, they charged me $40 for the blowdry alone! PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE AND DO NOT VISIT THIS SALON; THEY ARE SNOBBY AND PRETENTIOUS AND THEY REALLY HAVE NO REASON TO BE; THIS IS NOT A HIGH QUALITY SALON. Believe me, I NEVER write complaints against a company unless they are warranted; I am usually very forgiving!

I went here to get my eyebrows done (I'm way to squeemish to do them myself) and the lady was extremely nice. I didn't have any problems (other than it hurts to get your eyebrows done). They always seem to be free so waiting isn't a big deal. It's right in the middle of my office building, so it's quick and easy. The prices are expected, given they're in the city. They also have tanning, facials, massage, mani-pedi combos and waxing.

So I was approached on the street and offered a gift card good for a variety of services at Anna George Salon. The gift card cost $50, the price of one haircut there, but included a deep conditioning treatment, scalp treatment, facial, tanning, half off highlights, haircut, etc...so it sounded like a good deal, and I went for it.
I scheduled my haircut and also took advantage of the scalp treatment, deep conditioning, and style consultation. Well I made my appointment for first thing in the morning, and sat around for about 25 minutes before they got to me. The scalp treatment and conditioning felt good, but when it came to the haircut, the stylist was rather harsh and not gentle at all. It got even worse when she went to blow dry my hair - it felt like she was burning my scalp and I think even did burn some of my hair. She told me that the fumes coming off of my hair were just the residue from the treatments I'd received earlier, but the frizziness of my ends that I noticed later on tell me otherwise.
Although for the price of the gift card, the services seemed promising, I would not go back there to take advantage of the services I didn't use, and I especially would not pay full price to have my hair ruined again.
