This sports bar is one of the best that I have ever gone to. I usually go to different cars every week and this is by far the best. I can take my little brother and he will be admitted in. The price for the drinks are cheap and the kids have there own little section. Great place!

This is an awesome place for a martini! I'll be honest, I was skeptical when a friend asked me to meet her after work here but I was pleasantly surprised! Their Sweet and Spicey martini is awesome, its orange and cinnamon and their snickertini is also yummy! THe only thing that totally stinks about this place is that its open only until 11pm and its closed on Sat and Sun for private parties!

This is one of those bars that is really easy to miss and one you wouldn't want to miss either. Its actually an old apartment that somebody converted into a bar. It still has the cozy apartment sort of feel to it because they have these really soft and comfy couches and chairs here. They play great music here and since its kind of hard to find, I think it doesn't ever get too over crowded. They have a great atmosphere here and they also have great beer specials. This place is perfect in my book.

I think this is another really cool bar in Chicago. It is not in the city, but very close by. When you step inside, you immediately feel comfy. It has the atmosphere of a friend's room. They have nice drinks here and the prices are reasonable. They have a few couches splattered around and a pool table for people to enjoy. The crowd here is pretty chill and always fun to hang out with. They serve the usual bar food, but I have not had a chance to try that yet.

I’m not sure about the name McDuffy’s Lodge, because I know it as McDuffy’s (on the cover of Spaulding and 111th) and this is a great place to hang out and dance. The drinks are reasonable priced, cover is only $2 and the dance floor is always a welcoming place to be. The bar is sectioned off to a front sports bar and the back part of the bar is a dance club area, which also has a second floor balcony that overlooks the dance floor. There are also stripper poles for girls to dance on if they chose.

More
Rosa’s Blues Lounge is a legendary blues joint that is a bit off the beaten path for out-of-towners, but it’s worth a visit if you’re a fan of blues, and it’s especially recommended if there’s someone you want to see playing on a given night. The friendly and boisterous atmosphere inside the lounge belies the somewhat quiet and rather non-touristy neighborhood it sits in. It’s a compact and intimate interior, with the bar on the left side, tables scattered about, and a small stage in the back—in other words, you’ll definitely get to slide up close and enjoy the music. Yes, the cover charge is sometimes steep depending on who’s playing, but the payback is that the performances feel much more raw and unfiltered (including in some cases lyrics not meant for children, if you get my drift)—just the way the blues was meant to be heard. After midnight, the band(s) of the evening often “loosen up” their set lists, engaging in lots of improvisation as well as jamming with musicians from other blues clubs who’ve popped into Rosa’s for a late-night visit.

Well, I'm actuallly not sure if the many Nobel Laureates at the University of Chicago actually do drink, but any who imbibe have definitely done so at Jimmy's Woodlawn Tap at some point in the last few decades.
Jimmy's is a Hyde Park Institution, and is pretty much across the road from the University of Chicago, hence giving it quite a strong University flavor. Most days of the week, a large portion of the clientele will be University affiliated, but it has enough neighborhood and working regulars that it doesn't feel dominated by the college kids.

That's ok, they probably don't speak German either, but you'll feel like you are in Germany in this cute little bar in Lincoln Square. When it gets full you'll find a laid back professional crowd, mostly locals, who know each other and the bar staff pretty well already. But they don't seem to mind meeting new people. In the summer Huettenbar is particularly nice because they take the glass out of the windows so it's kind of an open-air bar like you would find in the Keys or somewhere more tropical. It's a great place to relax and have fun!

More
If you are a fan of local punk/rock music and cheap beer, and you aren’t afraid of drinking in what could be considered a “dive bar,” The Mutiny is your proverbial slice of heaven. Tucked away between the Interstate 90/94 overpass and Fullerton Avenue on Western Avenue, the establishment isn’t much to look at. Upon entering, you’ll see a thin bar on the left, which extends to the back of the bar, which is the “stage” area for live performances—you can definitely get up close and personal with the band. My recommendation is to find out who’s playing at The Mutiny, and check it out on a weekend when there’s a band you might be interested in seeing. I couldn’t imagine coming there just to drink, but when there’s a good line-up of bands playing, this place can get packed and turn into a rockin’ blast. A final note for guys only: Check out the old-school industrial-strength urinal in the men’s bathroom—it is a one-of-a-kind “fixture” that has gained a bit of notoriety for its uniqueness.
