It seems like every dish at the South Loop Club is a bit off. The burgers are big, but very bland. The nachos are good and cheesy, but they use ... giardinera? in place of salsa. They offer tacos in chicken or ...gyros? Now, the wraps were palatable. And the fries were really good. But if you're going here for some food, you'll know this place is really more about the beer. Inside is a dark, sprawling sports bar that gets absolutely packed to the gills when da Bears play. If you're eating in and drinking non-alcoholic, be warned -- there are no free refills on the dinky little cups they give you. We found this out when we got the bill, unfortunately. Drink a few of their 50+ different beers and I'm sure it'll taste better.

Other people seem to like the burgers here. I haven't tried to eat at this place, and can only review it as I've experienced it, which is as an intolerable, crowded, expensive jock bar with a moderately rude staff and no redeeming features. I guess I should try to eat there sometime, but for now it gets 1 star.

This was my favorite burger joint, during college, when I was a south loop resident. Their burgers are huge and juicy - I like a burger that's flavored with something other than meat! These taste marinated and are truly mouth watering. They are flame grilled on a toasted bun and priced well. In the fall and winter they get lots of pre-bear game people. And on weekend nights, you'll encounter Columbia students and other young people out for a drink. They've got some decent seating and the atmosphere is actually better than it seems from the outside.

I craved some meat one night, and patronized my local south loop club. The food is reasonably priced, though I'd say stick to bar food. It's an interesting atmosphere- diner meets bar meets sports bar- but it's close to where I live and it's the sort of place that's always bustling with drinkers. I got hit on in the takeout line, which I'll take as awesome, for now. Even in my sweatshirt and sweatpants ordering fries and a greasy burger, somebody at the south loop club finds me worthy enough to hit on. I'll take it.
