This place just re-opened to little if any fanfare and for good reason. No improvements have been made to the "new" reserve in fact the "daybeds" upstairs still bare the mark of cigarette burns from days gone by (classy!). The management (if you want to call it that) were rude to my friends and I (who shelled out a nice sum of our meager post-grad earnings) and were less than helpful in directing us to where our party was. We had fun regardless (we roll like that but needless to say we'll be taking our party elsewhere.) On a positive not, the dancer's were hot and security polite but otherwise I give it one star out of four- thumbs down. In sum, if you want to be treated like a second class citizen wait in line for too long pay too much for drinks and get disrespected RESERVE is the PLACE FOR YOU!!!!
Respectfully,
ClubKid85
Pros: Couple hot dancers
Cons: hmm..where do I start

Don't get me wrong, but I read an article in the Tribune that this and Crescendo are closed because the owners of these clubs have some "financial issues" that they are facing? I'll be shocked to find it still in business. But anyway, I remember coming here in 2006 in January to celebrate my cousin's birthday. Although there was some confusion at the door when we were supposed to get in for free and them having 2-3 guest lists for I don't know how many events that were being held, we did get in without any hassle (thanks to actually printing the e-mail that we were supposed to get in for free). The inside is definitely awesome with the bamboo and the red painted walls. Upstairs was a VIP area, but we didn't get to go up. But what I have beef is with the price of the drinks. They ARE pricy, and there isn't that much room to dance either. But overall, the place isn't bad at all, even better than Narcisse in regards to ambiance if I may say so (you can read my review on that too). But would I stay the whole night? I don't think I would, especially if you're not VIP (and you do need mucho dinero to climb those step to the upstairs lounge (probably 1/2 of that profit goes to the owners' "financial problems"). Would I go again, sure, just not for the entire night.
Pros: ambiance, celebrity party club
Cons: EXPENSIVE, Might be CLOSED

My two girlfriends and I where in Chicago this past weekend and had a ball!!! Unfortunately we wasted a few hours of our time at The Reserve. We were on the guest list and that got us in the actual door but we did not realize that there is an upstairs that is guarded by a stern stocky boy with lots of gel in his hair. He told us that we had to wait until the upstairs was open as if they were cleaning it or something. We had no problem with that so we went to look for a seat. Low and behold we quickly realized that every table /booth in the spot costs $500-$1700 to sit at. Yeah. . .really!!! These are regular IKEA specials; nothing fancy. . .and it didn't even look like that cost included mixers!!! Any who, we kept noticing that the gel boy kept peeping around the corner at us and then sneaking peeps up the stairs. Retarded!!! Still we tried to make the most of it and enjoy the Top 40 tunes. This place was really lame!!! There was way more staff than people and the staff was quite rude. Finally around midnight we were allowed up the infamous stairs!!!! WOW!!! Lame as hell!!!! The ambiance is pretty nice but they have hand picked so many people that no one was having fun. The music was $hitty! They tried to be Hip Hop Night but it was more like the club scenes you see on the soaps. The speakers were horrible!!! They must not have remembered to include the cost in their business plan!!! Also, the bouncers stood around being very menacing and rude. One even took my friends brand new martini that she had sat on the ledge for maybe 30 seconds to find her smokes and he wouldn't give it back when she stopped him. We left after that and vowed to let the world know not to waste their fabulous Chicago experience on The Whack A$$ Reserve!!!!
Pros: Ambiance
Cons: Service, Staff, Wait Time

Ok, I don't actually go to nightclubs but this one takes the cake. First of all, I see TONS of postings on Craigslist, which doesn't allow spamming, yet the staff at Reserve keeps posting ads in the FREE section of Craigslist. I can't stand spammers, so I go on the web to see if I can find a website. Needless to say, Reserve's website has no phone number to call them. I'm beginning to get a bit more suspicious. Then I come to this site and read the reviews. Peppered in amongst the real reviews (mostly negative) are the "Highly Recommended" reviews. I checked out the profiles and see a pattern emerge. The good reviews are "people" that register and review only one place - Reserve.
Bottom line - Reserve is spamming sites to get it's reviews and clientele up. If you can't stand spammers, this is one more place to stay away from. If you're cheesy and like to be "had," check out Reserve. Just don't complain when we say "I told you so."
Pros: The staff think more highly of themselves than anyone else.
Cons: Spammer of Craigslist

I have been here twice. Interior, IMHO, is pretty cool although the building is kinda small.
Service), once you get upstairs, is average. We had to wait despite the list we were on AND the fact that the door manager was a friend's friend (who, in his defense, was told to just not let anyone in for 15 minutes - we heard another suited gentleman from inside tell him. Of course once we got upstairs it was empty. Not sure owners realize that I can't give them money for booze if I am standing out in the cold. JFC). Drinks were expensive, but one wouldn't go to a place like that and expect moderately priced drinks, much less cheap ones.
People) we're a hodge podge. I ran into some Michigan Avenue Coach store manager (that's what she said, but who knows) whose pretension I would've accepted if she had been more than a 6. I guess at the end of the night the place filled up and there were some decent women, but nothing to write home about.
Music) was TERRIBLE, although I am one of those who, if he hears Pour Some Sugar On Me, am instantly turned off.
Overall) I would go back there if there was a group of people going - guys and girls - but I wouldn't show up there with one or two buddies hoping to drink, meet a future ex-girlfriend, and have a great time. Like I said, "meh..."
Pros: Interior is nice...
Cons: ...just stop trying so hard.

I went here for a B-Day with 8 people. We got a bottle of Goose (the large) for like $300 and all of us got in with no cover, got a swanky table, and drank like champions. However, I am a local celebrity-playboy (at least in my own mind), which may have accounted for the rock star treatment.

This place is surely one of the best in town. Servers - hot, male bartenders and door staff - GQ quality. Sometimes we get a table, sometimes just hang out and dance, ALWAYS tons of fun. The music is easily the best around.
I will continue to go here until I see something better open!
Pros: Great staff and music.

You need to check this place out, for a laugh, and to experience the absolute worst that Chicago has to offer. If you are an out of towner, please DO NOT make the mistake of thinking that all Chicago night spots are this outrageously horrible. The overall experience at this club can be summed up in one word "inconsistent". For instance, the door staff are both rude and slow, with a splash of arrogance. The bouncers seemed more interested in drinking and small talk than securing the club. The DJ (music) was completely unremarkable, dominated by the latest top 40 Hip Hop Hits,,,,,, of the last 5 years. The actual facility is no larger than the average 3 car garage and was a real disappointment. The only bright spot was the washroom attendant and bartenders who where polite and accommodating. I've been to clubs all over the world in major cities from LA to NY, from Paris to Bancock, etc, etc., and this was by far the worst night I've had in a long long time. I would not recommend this club, but to be perfectly honest, you need to go to experience how horrible - - - horrible can be. Cheers!!!
Pros: Mints in the bathroom
Cons: Ummm
