This cozy Italian restaurant in Lincoln Park is an ideal spot for a romantic dinner for two. The European style table arrangements combined with candle light provides the ideal cozy setting. The food is fantastic. I normally order the grilled calamari which is fresh and delicately prepared. The lasagna is my favorite dish on the menu and arguably the best in the city. The wine list is robust with many Italian vintages. Overall, this is one of my favorite spots in Chicago.
Pros: Ambience, Food, Prices

anyone who wishes to have an enjoyable dinner and excellent service should make this a requisite stop while in the heart of downtown Chicago. I do not understand why there are negative reviews, which directly contradict the 9.3 rating. i personally give it a 10. as for those who complain about the prices, don't be such a cheapskate. the waitstaff work very hard to ensure a pleasant experience. tip them generously -- mine was $20 on a bill of about $80, INCLUDING tax. i will be making future visits while in or near the Chicago area. Considering the food and quality of service, this is a terrific value. if you're staying at the Palmer House and don't feel like messing with traffic but want an excellent meal, The Big Downtown is an excellent choice!
Pros: reasonable prices, atmosphere, service
Cons: , none

MARTINI PARK IS ONE OF THOSE PLACES THAT IS NOT A TRENDY CLUB WHERE THERE ARE 6 TABLES AND YOU STAND FOR HRS TO GET IN ONLY TO FEEL YOU ARE THE COOLEST BEING ON EARTH. AND YOU DANCE IN THE AISLES TO A D.J.
IT IS A PLACE THAT HAS GREAT SPACE , GOOD MUSIC, CLASS AND GOOD SPACE WITH GREAT DRINKS . MET JOSH THE MANAGER AND HE WAS THE BEST AS WERE ALL THE WAITSTAFF AND B'TENDERS. LOVE HAVING THE BAR IN FRONT OF THE STAGE. ALSO LOVE LIVE BAND AND DANCING.
AND YOU KNOW I FELT COOL AND TRENDY WITHOUT EVEN TRYING!! WILL BE BACK.
ONE MORE THING INNOVATIVE APPETIZERS TO CUSHION THE FABULOUS MARTINIS.
Pros: NICE MANGEMENT AND MATURE FUN
Cons: NONE

I had an amazing time at Le Lan. Everything that needed to go right that night went right. From the amazingly courteous staff (hostess, waiters, sommelier) to the delicious food (we had quail foie gras (sp???) and the venison and it was delicious). I had arranged for the desert before hand and they were very receptive and helpful in assisting me with the surprise. I highly recommend this place for anyone wishing to have a friendly and romantic experience.

I almost do not want to leave such a good review because then it will get too crowded - but seriosly this is the best margarita I've had in this city so far. We've only tried a few appetizers, but the service is always great and what we've had has been wonderful! We're going back for a full dinner real soon!

I love Turkish food and I have been to other Turkish restaurants but it was more Mediterranean/American/Turkish food but A La Turka Turkish Kitchen was great authentic Turkish food and the service was great. I think this is a great place to go with friends and the portions are very large for sharing and the price was very decent. It is also a great date place as it is a cozy and very romantic setting,
Pros: everything was pretty great..the food, the price, the atmosphere
Cons: I like my food sizzling hot

I went to Carnivale for my birthday with 3 of my friends, and I am so happy we did! The space is gorgeous, with a lot of interesting photography all over, including in the bathroom. Service was great, from the moment we walked in, and our waiter was very helpful in explaining the menu. I especially liked that they buy from local farmers. Their signature raspberry mojito is worth the hype, and the caipairinhas and margaritas are very good as well. We had the guacamole to start, which was a very generous serving, with a really nice amount of spice, and it was very fresh. I had the pernil for my main course, which is shredded pork with a rum glaze, and it was fantastic! It was served with rice and beans and fried plantains, which were also excellent. It can be VERY difficult to find well-made plantains in Chicago, but Carnivale does it. The portions were very generous, as well, which is often not the case in some upscale restaurants. They even brought out a birthday dessert for me, which was tasty, but not as tasty as everything else. I didn't really care at that point, though, since I was stuffed already. I would definitely recommend making reservations here, though, because it was pretty busy, even on a rainy Thursday night.
Pros: service, decor, food, drinks
Cons: dessert
