I have eaten wings all over the country, and Yak-zies far and away serves the best wings I've ever had. It's a great easy going atmosphere and the other food is good to. Beer is relatively cheap. Rating a chain like the one with girls dressed in orange shorts, or BW-3's over Yak-zies is a joke. They're okay, but Yak-zies "tang" sauce is the best their is. Prices are reasonable and the value is great.. When running the Chicago marathon a few years ago, the only thing that got me from mile 20 to the finish was knowing I was going to Yak's afterwards...
Pros: Wings, cheap beer, atmosphere
Cons: too busy on weekends

I'm only Sixteen so my word may not carry much weight with the older crowd but i love Wrigley Field and there is no other stadium where that many fans will show and support a team when its forty degrees out and raining. if you've got a problem Wrigley Field then go and get your head examined or leave it alone so others can enjoy it. i love the people and the team and i hope Wrigley stay exactly the same.

We went here last year on my birthday to hear the Kingfish play. We had a blast that night and the Kingfish were awesome too. I've seen them play a few times since then and it is always a fun time. I hope Wrightwood Tap has them come back after the remodel is done!!!

Well, I'm actuallly not sure if the many Nobel Laureates at the University of Chicago actually do drink, but any who imbibe have definitely done so at Jimmy's Woodlawn Tap at some point in the last few decades.
Jimmy's is a Hyde Park Institution, and is pretty much across the road from the University of Chicago, hence giving it quite a strong University flavor. Most days of the week, a large portion of the clientele will be University affiliated, but it has enough neighborhood and working regulars that it doesn't feel dominated by the college kids.

Jimmy's really needs no review. If you live in Hyde Park, you know it's the only good bar in the neighborhood. If you don't live in Hyde Park, it's a trek (Red or Green line to the 55 bus.) Really the place to meet friends for beer and fries, or have a quiet drink -- the bar is mostly straight guys like me unwinding after a long week, and you're out of luck if you're looking to find a mate: this is not a single's bar by a long shot (although if you're just looking for conversation, people are friendly.)
Getting served (contrary to grumpy people reviewing here) is not hard -- if it's crowded you'll have the usual problems but they're not understaffed.
Pros: friendly bartenders, cheap beer and food for a grad student's budget
Cons: not a place to meet your soulmate (even if you're looking for Hannah Arendt)

This bar used to be associated with and was known for Blues. It got on "the map" from booking famous Blues musicians. Nowadays they feature other genres or styles of live music such as Rock, Folk,Pop, Alt., etc... I went here recently to see someone I know perform with his band. This place could use a bit of remodeling , however it has a homey and laid back vibe inside. Perhaps they realize if they fix up the inside of the club too much it will attract a yuppie crowd that they don't want. I enjoyed the band I came to see and got treated to another band while I was waiting for they folks I know to hit the stage. I actually found street parking right in front, I guess it is all in the timing!
