Zentra is one of my favorite places to go when I'm downtown. At first it was the place we went for the after party, but lately I've been going there with my girlfriends to have fun all night long. They have 3 dance rooms (1.hip hop 2. techno 3. house) it doesn't matter what you're into, youi'll be sure to find an area to enjoy your night. There are a lot of promotions goin on there so if you're able to get on a guest list, good for you. Didn't mind the staff, the bartenders are nice to look at and drinks are a bit pricey--worth it though.

I visit Chicago regularly with my guy. On this particular evening, he was attending a formal work event so I decided to brave Chicago on my own before meeting up with him later for some clubbing. Least to say, I was innapropriately dressed! Funky and fabulous tiny dress! I came running in from the downpour and promptly found a seat a bar, the most desired location for a single gal, since the conversation is built in. The female bartender was prompt and sweet despite the crowds. I was a little self conscious about over dressing in this casual bar but no one seemed to mind. In fact guys and girls alike were friendly and conversational the entire evening. I ordered the crab cakes appetizer which was great and plated well. The cocktails were mixed to perfection. It was nice that the back patio was open to smokers, who were huddled around the big tree in back. A wonderful summer evening at an exceptionally friendly bar. Can't wait to go back and bring my guy to meet more Chicago friends!
Pros: Slightly romantic ambience, friendly patrons and staff

Oh my gosh! If you enjoy beautiful architecture and delicious food, you have got to go ZED. I love, absolutely love, the cranberry spiced old fashioned. And I can't begin to describe the food. I mean fresh grilled fish, perfectly medium rare meat (just the way I like it), perfectly moist cornbread. I really couldn't get enough...I even had to help myself to some dessert, which I have renamed chocolate heaven. This is the perfect place to come if you are in the mood to indulge in a great meal.

If you want to go out and meet new friends this is the place. Don`t be shy just talk to complete strangers and it`s easy to strike up a conversation because the live music is at a level were you can actually talk without shouting. The bartenders remember your drink and are very nice to everyone, she is beautiful and he`s not bad at all. The drinks are reasonable but the best part is the diverse crowd of people from all walks of life. It`s never the same experience always something a little different. It is a very nice crowd of people.
Pros: The women are great here.

Oh sweet sweet Zubrowka. How you burn like only an 80-proof Polish-Belarusian vodka can.
This place has it all:
- old white ethnic men who give you sultry looks
- hot eastern european bartendress (complete with mini skirt and barely-there boob shirt)
- pool table that brews arguments and evil looks. fun!
- dimly lit seating area in the back perfect for people watching
- absent of L.P. homesteaders looking to slum it for a night

Yak-Zies is a cool place to visit before after or during Cubs games. They are huge supporters of Cub fan muck running! And If you don't have tickets to the game, you can find a comfy seat (maybe) and some greasy grub to absorb all the beer. The T.V. tents across the street make it fun for Neighbors to watch the game outdoors. And if they're drunk enough, they may even think they're actually at Wrigley. Seriously, it's that cool.

I have eaten wings all over the country, and Yak-zies far and away serves the best wings I've ever had. It's a great easy going atmosphere and the other food is good to. Beer is relatively cheap. Rating a chain like the one with girls dressed in orange shorts, or BW-3's over Yak-zies is a joke. They're okay, but Yak-zies "tang" sauce is the best their is. Prices are reasonable and the value is great.. When running the Chicago marathon a few years ago, the only thing that got me from mile 20 to the finish was knowing I was going to Yak's afterwards...

I went here with a friend for lunch when the Cubs were out of town. The area was pretty quiet and this bar was no exception.
Even though we were some of the only people in the whole restaurant area, our food took a long time to get to us and it was less than impressive. We also got the onion loaf, which was good, but not what we were expecting.
I would recommend this bar when there is a Cubs game going on because I'm sure its much busier and the staff is more attentive.

Other than the bartenders being snippy...they have great food and great drinks! its a nice place to hang out for a midweek drinky drink! Nice low key tempo and they will also play your music if you ask them too!
