All the cakes are made fresh daily. If you need a cake, I would suggest you go in early or they run out by the end of the day. And if you need something special for a big event, call them right up and special order what you need and how you want it. They will bake you the best cake ever! Reallly goood bakery!

I went to the Swedish bakery for the first time this past Saturday to pick up a cake for mother's day. This place was really crowded with people, but service was really fast. The girls that helped me choose my cake were really friendly and did a great job at helping me choose the cake that would be just right for my mom. I also picked up a few chocolate cupcakes for myself! While the service was wonderful, I didn't think much of the actual cake and treats. I got a fruit cake, which had some really sour fruits as topping to a white cake that could have used a bit more sugar. As for the cupcakes, they were a bit dry and the frosting was not sweet enough for my own liking. I don't know if it was just my first experience or what, but judging by the other reviews, I should definitely give this place one more chance..

We chose this bakery in Andersonville to get a cake from for our son's birthday party. They had a great selection of cakes to choose from. We went in about a week beforehand and placed the order. The person who helped us was very nice and she was even able to arrange for a special Sponge Bob theme on the cake! Of course, as we were leaving, we could not resist but to buy some of their yummy treats. My favorite were their assorted cookies! The cake turned out to be a hit with both parents and children. We will definitely be using this bakery agian.

Having a craving for something sweet? Well head on over to Andersonville and make a beeline for this great bakery because its got all the great sweets to satisfy your cravings. They have the best cakes I have tried in Chicago. Give the fruit cake a try, its this light cake with really light whipped icing and lots of assorted fruits. I love this bakery and use it for all special occassions. Its my treat not only to myself but to anybody else who has a special occassion!

The Swedish Bakery is another awesome bakery in Chicago. They specialize mostly in breads and cakes and everything here is so amazingly good. My favorite item here is the cake that is soaked overnight in milk. Though it sounds heavy, it is such a light cake. But make sure to get here as early as you can. They usually sell out pretty quick and if you go in towards closing time, they don't have as great of a selection of cakes left. But you can also always preorder so that you are sure to get what you want.

The Swedish Bakery in Andersonville is the best bakery around. Their cakes are delicious - especially the marzipan and strawberry cakes. Their butter cookies are expensive but are well worth it. The best value there is the freshly baked bread. It's less expensive than a loaf of national brand bread from the grocery store and, of course, much fresher and tastier. If you want to pick up something on a Saturday, get there early or call ahead; the line is always very long.

Once you go here, you will definitely want to go back. They are especially known for their paper thin swedish cookies. Not overly sweet, sort of buttery and practically melt in your mouth. The vast array of cakes are also special. They are more expensive than just some average bakery but it is definitely worth it - you are getting a lot more for your money than at just an average bakery. There is also a Swedish deli that offers all the traditional crackers, cheeses, pickled herring, cream spreads, etc.

The Swedish Bakery produces a complete range of baked goods - from cookies and bread, to pastries, chocolates, and cakes. Their prices are extremely reasonable, and I'm actually a huge fan of their pastries. If not for the fact that I lived in the South Side, I'd probably stop by everyday, to the detriment of my weight I'm sure. They also bake cakes to order, so if you have a birthday coming up, that's something to think about. They also have smaller cakes always ready for sale in case you just forgot someone's birthday. Strangely enough, despite the "Swedish" part of their name, I've never tried any of their traditional Swedish products. I spend my time eating their Eclairs, Cream Puffs, Napoleons, Truffles...
