This bakery is probably one of the oldest bakeries in town. I think there is a sign somewhere that says they are around 90 years old! But their products never get old to me. Cakes, pastries, cookies and breads are made fresh daily here in this Humboldt Park neighborhood. The 'hood hasn't changed much over the years and neither has this bakery. Roeser's is a classic and has great birthday cakes and other specialty cakes. I haven't been there since I was a kid and am now inspired to go back!

I used to live a few blocks away from Roeser's Bakery when I was growing up in the 70's. Actually, I think I can blame them for a few inches around the hips...but it was worth it! Even though I now live at the other end of town, I make a special trip once in a while for old time's sake. They are so tiny inside, and it's usually packed day and night, but you have to try their cakes and my personal fave, the strawberry tarts. Delicious!
