This is a really cute little "take away" shop that recently opened up in Lincoln Park. This place carries only cupcakes (as suggested by its name). They are highly specialzed in their one product and carry lots of unique flavores like strawberry banana that are hard to find elsewhere. The cupcakes are all beautifully decorated and very nicely presented. Just seeing them makes you want to try all the different kinds!

This is a really cute little bakery shop. As you can probably guess, their specialty is cupcakes and that is the only thing they carry. They have so many different cupcakes that are all so beautifully decorated. And they are available in so many different flavors. They have your standard chocolate and vanilla cupcakes and then they also have some cool and unique twists, like apple cinnamon. Here, cupcakes are just for kids. The flavors and decorations make them a cool treat for anyone.

...but flawed in the execution. I really do think the cupcakes are very good. Especially since cupcakes are not something that you actually get to eat that often. However, I suppose the only excuse for such high prices is that you are actually paying a premium for a little novelty. Try it for yourself.

Ridiculously expensive. Disorganized service. Only 6 kinds of cupcakes, yet they claim to have over 30. The concept is cute, but the product needs to be improved, the cupcakes need to be bigger and a bit denser. Although the flavors are clever the presentation could better. And plus, there was no where to park, which spells out baaad news for any small business in the chicagoland area. All in all, I wouldn't recommend it, you're better off spending 2 dollars and making your own batch.

"Cupcakes" is a take-out shop that just opened in Lakeview. Their name is an apt description of their product-- they sell only cupcakes. I tried two varieties, "creamsicle" and a traditional chocolate cupcake. Both were tasty with excellent texture. I even liked the frosting- a rare experience! The orange flavoring in the "creamsicle" was fresh and natural. Neither had the sickeningly sweet taste that many cupcakes have. They had other appealing flavors, including peach, caramel apple, and traditional yellow cake. I would have given them a "perfect" rating if 1) they were open more often (they just opened so maybe they're still working out their hours), and 2) their cupcakes weren't so pricey ($3). Still, even at that price, I'm dying to go back and try another flavor. They were the best cupcakes I have ever had.
