I find it hard to understand why people can't realize good workmanship takes time, & as busy as this shop is there is going to be times things don't work like a swiss watch. Relax, This shop does excellent work & has been in business since 1981 owned by the same family. Repair work doesn't happen with a snap of your fingers, a rushed job can have problems. Realize its your car & no one wants you broke down & waiting to be towed in for repair. I have always found the staff to be friendly, helpful and willing to keep customes happy. If you need your car fixed right, maybe a tire or two give this shop a try. Rich & his staff are ready & willing to make sure your car is fixed right & your happy once the repair is completed. Signed a happy customer !!!!

Nice people seems to care. Seems like an little shop with customer service not like a franchise whos just cares about themselves.

When I ran over a pothole and went into Lucas Tire for an estimate, I should have walked away the moment I heard the woman in front of me in line say, "I had my tire fixed here yesterday, and today it exploded." Instead they replaced the two front tires and tried to straighten the bent rim on my VW. The next day on the highway, the car was vibrating violently and making a lot of road noise. I pulled off and took it to the dealer who explained Lucas had put the wrong tires on the car and had ruined the aluminum rim "by pounding on it" adding that they should have known that rims of this type "cannot be straightened in house and must be sent out." Took the tires back to Lucas to explain their mistake and was told by Bridget, the daughter of the man who had helped me, that they did not guarantee their work and did not take tires back. On my way out the door she said, "And you should get a bigger shirt. Your stomach is sticking out." What the size of my shirt has to do with their dishonesty and lack of professionalism beats the heck out of me, but if you want to keep your sanity, your money, and your dignity, don't step foot in their door.

Cons: only the buddha has enough

On September 15, 2007 I purchased 4 new tires from Lucas Tire. I recently discovered they installed the wrong size tires on my Honda Civic.
When I originally purchased the tires the majority of my driving was short distances on city streets within Chicago. For the last 9 months, the majority of my driving involves long distances on expressways. With the onset of winter my car has handled very poorly in snowy conditions. I assumed I had bought poor quality tires back in September 2007. Today I went to purchase two new front tires from a different tire company. While shopping for new tires, I discovered that Lucas Tire had installed tires that were for a Honda Accord rather than a Honda Civic. I went to Lucas Tire to explain the mistake and he refused to replace the current tires with the correct size tires. As a result I had to buy four new tires at another tire store.
Obviously when I hired Lucas Tire I expected the company to install tires that met Honda's tire specifications. I am appalled that Lucas Tire knowingly equipped my car with tires that caused my car to maneuver less safely in winter conditions which in turn jeopardized my safety and the safety of my passengers.

My breaks went out in front of this place, so I pulled in... and thus began the worst car related nightmare of my life.
They repaired my breaks --for what turned out to be twice the price originally quoted-- and threw in a bunch of free oil change coupons. I did go back for the oil change and they found lots of things wrong with my car. I didn't think that I really needed those repairs, so I didn't agree to get that work done, but not long after that, my gears went out completely.
So, I had my car towed over there and the next day the mechanic called to say that I needed transmission work, and by the way, a brand new battery too --even though I'd never had a problem with old one. But, silly me, I okay the work, which I was told was going to take a few days. After a few days, I call to find out about the progress of my car and, No, it's not ready yet. Finally, after about a week, I call and they say, Okay, your car is back, and I'm like, Back from where? Turns out they sent my car out to their transmission guy in River Grove(?) --without my prior knowledge or permission!
So I go over to Lucas and it turns out that my car is NOT there yet. They tell me that the tow truck broke down and my car won't be back until the next day. So, the next day, I go over there and my car is back and I pay a fortune for a rebuilt transmission and a new battery.
Less than a week later, I double park at my job and put my blinkers on for about 10 minutes and my battery dies. I was furious, since that was supposed to be a new battery, so I get a jump and take it back to Lucas. They look at it and claim that there's something wrong with the connections. I say I paid for a new battery and I want a new battery, and that it should be under warranty. So they say they're putting in a new battery and end up charging me in labor and fees what amounts to the cost of another new batter
