-tried to charge me $50 to install an air conditioning unit I was told was installed free when i signed my lease
-$50 let in if you lock your keys inside (during business hours.. after is $75).. they claim this is in the lease.. a $50 fine for replacing keys is ACTUALLY what is in the lease. It says nothing about locking yourself out
-my kitchen sink wouldn't shut off (this happened 4 times) once it flooded my kitchen. Improvements: -The showers are terrible, no water pressure and water drips out the faucet when showering and thus burns your legs when you step backwards
-too many outlets for one fuse. I've blown the fuse 10 times just blowdrying my hair in the morning ( don't even think about using a hair dryer while your A.C. is on!)
-water sporadically shuts off for a few hours at a time
-ive had mold growing in my closet walls for the better part of my lease... they paint over it every month for me ;-). Other: -"rehabs" are shoddy. They painted over tile and the porcelain tub in the bathroom. It's now slowly chipping away. They layed linoleum tile over old tile in the kitchen, but only where it's seen. With a little investigation you will see the old tile underneath your appliances..

Management is slow to respond to complaints, assuming they respond at all. The elevator breaks down often, and management will only be bothered to repair when it suits them to do so. Dumpster area is disgusting, in an unlit gangway that is often overrun with vermin. Heat cannot be adjusted, when it comes on at all.

I had to write in several conditions on my lease that had been promised to me when I looked at the apartment. After moving in, I found the unit had been hastily "rehabbed," and found my closet full of paint buckets and tools and screws on the floor (which were never claimed later).
When I needed to move out before the end of my lease, I offered them numerous subletters/reletters, and they denied every single applicant, essentially eating up several credit application fees without any results.
Claimed they never received a forwarding address, and despite my calling numerous times never sent me a return on my security deposit. When I finally was able to prove that I had informed them (repeatedly) of my change of address, they sent back only a portion of my deposit with vague listings of damages that did not exist when I moved out.
Saw several other residents' units, which had gaping holes in the ceiling, water damage, etc. Stairwells and common areas were very poorly maintained.

Water Tower Realty promises many upgrades and improvements to their properties but do not in any follow through on them. Meanwhile rent is still raised yearly when there is no signs of what exactly the higher rental prices are going towards. Also, upon the end of your lease term, I would highly recommend scheduling a walk-through with these people as to not get screwed by some penny pinching on your deposit. They do not take a lot out but they try to hit you up for some small costs that they think can fall through the cracks. For example, I received one set of keys upon moving in but was just charged for not leaving an additional (second) set of keys upon my departure. That was a $25 cost for no reason. Another added cost was not leaving a forwarding address even though upon leaving you have to leave a paper with your forwarding address on it, so it is nearly impossible not to leave the address for them...but somehow they did not get this paper and it falls under the "your word vs. their word" category. Last, on your move out day be aware there are additional charges for leaving after 12pm of the day your lease expires...even if one of their "helpful" lackey's tells you they'll waive the charge for you. All in all these people should not be trusted on face value alone. Make sure you receive everything in writing about resolved issues and other inspection type information.

The owners and people who work for this company, are some of the biggest assholes I have ever met. The customer service is horrible, theres this guy Nick (he might run the company) who is a complete stuck up jackass, he looks like the Italian version of the "40 year old virgin", this guy has his head so far up his ass he can see out of his mouth, and the 24/7/365 emergency hotline they talk so much about is down most of the time, they just take the phone off the hook, all these guys care about is filling as many apartments as possible, that's all.

This company has really low cost apartments. You will find yourself in a small studio, but you will be paying nothing for it. Their buildings include every thing except electricity. Some of their buildings even have gyms, but you are going to pay a little more in rent to live in a better building. The management company is easy to strike a deal with you. This is a good place to get your way.
