This spare, cool vibe of a restaurant is deserving of every star and accolade thrown at it, and there have been quite a few. Blackbird has been chosen as a top restaurant by no less than "Gourmet" magazine, and its chef, Paul Kahan, is a James Beard Award winner. There's good reason for this attention: the food is exquisite. It's not your every night, comfortable, homey restaurant. Dining here is an occasion, and what they do with desserts will take your breath away. All of the folks that I dined with enjoyed their meals, so order what you love and expect a great meal. Reservations and a fat wallet are requirements, and weekends can be very, very busy, so if you go early (pre-theatre) or during the week, you'll probably enjoy a more relaxing time. That said, some folks love the "see and be seen" atmosphere on the weekends, which can be fun, too.

I have only been here once for my birthday. This restaurant serves contemporary American cuisine with very clean and simple, presenations. I went here for my b-day and had a wonderful experience. The portions are very small but you definitely savor each bite and leave feeling satisified. I tried the hen and the pork and we started with scallops. It was excellent! The service was impeccable and we felt very well taken care of. Never did we have to ask for a refill on our water.
