I would say this toy store is the best in the country, but I'm from Canada, and anytime I get down to Seattle, I HAVE to stop there. It's better than anything I've been too. It has everything and anything a toy store should have. It has model horses, stuffies, board games galore, puzzles, books, awesome gag gifts, dollys, puppets, and anythings else you can thing of. My first trip there was when I was 19!, and I was still like an awestruck child. "Two stories of toys, you have to be kidding?!" This place is paradise for anyone with a young heart and a young mind! Check it out for sure!!!

If you want both low cost and good quality, you want Ballard Camera! They are quick and will re-do prints if you don't like how it turns out. They have a large stock of equipment, chemicals, and photo paper if you develop things yourself as well. They also have a good selection of scrap booking supplies. Parking can be an issue since they're right on Ballard Way, but it's worth it, especially if you're in a hurry. If you want even higher quality prints, go to Moonphoto on Greenwood.

I first came to Cameratechs when a competitor claimed to fix my camera, and it broke again. They told me the truth, and fixed it right. I've brought everything to them since, and they do excellent work. They'll also say when they can't fix something, check things out for free, explain things clearly, and geek out about cameras. Totally trustworthy. Wish I had places I could depend on like this for other things...

If you haven't had either, you are truly missing out, both are among the best beers out there and trust me, I've had more than a few (hundred) Go visit them next time you need a keg (or a pony for that matter-or even a growler!)

When I saw how small Gary's Games was, I was worried their selection would be small, but I was proven wrong. I came in just last night, so they were temporarily out of several games I asked about (due to it being just two weeks after Christmas), but the fact that they carry them at all is pretty cool. They seem to have a great selection of imported games and games from lesser-known publishers.
I'll admit this is the first store I've been to that was dedicated to board games, but it was just what I was looking for. I was impressed by the fact that they had a lot of card games and that they had a whole case of pawns, counters, die, and other game accessories. They have a whole wall of games by Cheap Ass Games, in which access to these game pieces is important. They also had a book and figurine section and a whole wing of the store dedicated to jigsaw puzzles and model airplanes.
This is definitely a gamer's game store. (They even had a small group of people in the thick of a role-playing game when I was in the store.)
Their classic games section was a little bit spare, but it seemed like they were kind of low on everything as a result of it being just two weeks after Christmas. Prices seemed standard. I left the store after spending about $50 on several new games and game pieces (pawns, Monopoly money, etc) and was very pleased with my purchases.

I've been to a number of tobaccanist's in Seattle and elsewhere, but none of them were as large as Piece of Mind. The store is huge, and all four walls have large glass cases filled with blown glass pipes. The staff is very helpful, and the prices are reasonable, with frequent sales. They also sell assorted paraphenalia, clothing and shoes. It's worth the drive even if you don't live near Fremont, for quality glassware or hookahs.

Game Wizard is in Ballard and quite a distance from my home, but I go up there every now and then just to keep in touch. Game Wizard is a local center for the gaming community. The store is small, but jam packed with stuff, and they have a space for gaming next door. There's also good greasy food available down the street and parking never seems to be a problem.

I have visited this store in downtown Seattle twice now to sell a couple of small sterling silver candy dishes. One of my co-workers recommended the store to me as one that has been in Seattle for a long time and that has a good reputation. As its name implies, this store specializes in rare and collectible coins and currency. However, they also offer sterling silver and gold jewelry, including jewelry set with precious and semi-precious stones. They actually have a rather large and good jewelry selection. They also sell small collectibles and small vintage and antique items such as vintage costume jewelry and accessories. Both my visits to this store were very satisfying. The owner/staff are polite, professional, very friendly and a good source of information on what they offer. If you have jewelry, coins or certain kinds of collectibles you would like to sell, I would certainly recommend them. If you are looking for gold or silver jewelry, I suggest you visit their store before you head to one of the large department stores or jewelry stores. You may find what you’re looking for at a price below the retail price you would pay at a major store.
