My wife works out at Sound Mind & Body Gym here in Fremont and loves it, I checked it out the other day and was impressed by the location (right on the water in Fremont), the friendly staff, and the free weights. I've never taken a class here, but the wife thinks the trainers do a great job with any skill level. Thinking about ditching Anytime Fitness close by to come work out here - better atmosphere.
Pros: Friendly, Fast
Cons: Not a "social" gym

I've had nothing but friendly, respectful and encouraging treatment from the Rain Staff. I enjoy working out in a space that lets me have space and privacy. It's a beautiful space that allows one to be centered and calm while working hard. The manager, Glen, has provided the most encouragement with humor and grace.

If you’re looking for a great gym in Seattle, the Olympic Athletic Club is it! The club sits in the historic district of Ballard in a charming brick building that brings a complete new feel to the gym. It’s cozy and comfortable, and set up much like a spa. The place is beautiful, and very clean. The locker rooms have everything you need: lockers, private dressing rooms, hairdryers, a sauna, a hot tub, and showers. The club also offers several well stocked and well maintained weight rooms, tons of cardio machines, fitness classes, sport courts, and a large, saline-based pool sans harsh chemicals. The employees are also extremely friendly. You can definitely tell that it’s a family business, both in the staff and the patrons that work-out there. They even have childcare and various classes geared towards children. The price for membership has even lowered over the years, and it’s completely worth it for what you get! I will be a member of Olympic Athletic Club for a very long time!

They've moved to 10722 5th Ave NE (Northgate) and the new place is GREAT! The instructors are top-notch and no 2 classes are exactly the same. If you like kickboxing or just need to do something different, give this a try - it's a great value for the money!

I recently joined Denali Fitness at Interbay. All of the equipment is very high quality, and the spinning bikes are the best I have tried. The display screen calcuates your heart rate, the rpm, and is built with gears like a road bike which makes the spinning classes very challenging. The facility is very clean and spacious. What sets this facility apart though is the staff. They are very professional, do not use high pressure sales techniques, and are always helpful. They actually remember your name when you walk in the door. Plus they just introduced Kineasis which is an awesome workout using functional exercises and cables. While they charge extra in addition to the membership dues, the classes are limited in size so it's like having a personal trainer at a fraction of the price. All of the other classes are included in the membership fee though. Parking is convenient and plentiful, and they offer free use of hand towels. The only temporary drawback is that the class schedule has changed some and there aren't a ton of classes yet, but as more people join they say more will be added. I would definitely recommend this place!
Pros: Great classes, beautiful facility, and professional staff.
Cons: Can't think of any.

Due to the urging of two friends, I recently signed up for a pre-natal yoga class at Eight Limbs with the famous Anne Phyfe. The class itself is excellent- just strenuous enough with great stretching, learning better breathing is key and awareness of the baby is always emphasized. Anne Phyfe is AMAZING-she sends a ripple of calm through all of her students with her voice and soft touch and excellent instruction. The studios are clean and airy and the overall vibe is just plain sweet.

More
The longstanding gym in the village area on the east side of Greenlake is well worth the fitness jog to get there from Wallingford. The place is simply professional, mellow and occasionally fun, serving a wide range of ages and appearances. The longer-time staff members show considerable caring and interaction with we who are sweating. Coaching or instruction is readily available. And they seem to have expanded the number of membership/payment plans, so let 'em know what works best for you. Second best for convenience to Wallingford would be the U-District YMCA, on 50th. Depending on your Wallingford location, that too might be a fine fitness jaunt before working out.

I started working out at ProRobics (Laurelhurst) in January this year, and I have had nothing but positive experiences. They offer several types of group exercise classes (cycling, step, yoga, pilates, etc.), and the instructors I've had have been motivating and well-educated. The cardio area is somewhat small, but I have never been unable to get a machine. Parking is easy and readiliy available except between 5-7pm or so--there are a few restaurants nearby that also contribute to the parking in the evenings. My favorite thing about this gym is the diversity of membership--people of all ages and fitness levels go here, and I feel like it's a really accepting place.
They also have childcare available at certain hours.

I have worked at multiple gyms in Seattle, and I can honestly say that this is one of my favorites. It is laid back, relaxed, clean, quiet and most importantly convenient. Being able to walk from my house is great, and even if I need to drive, there is plenty of free parking. The staff is helpful and unintrusive. The rates are great and affordable. A must for anyone moving into Ballard looking for a good gym.

More
After 2 years of saying, "I'm going to try Yoga," I finally did this past February, which proved to be a good decision during the dreary winter months. I decided on Maya because I read about it while walking home one day. The brochure described a beginner's class that took about 6 weeks, once per week. I'm the kind of person that likes to learn how to do things right and not jump into things haphazardly so having a beginner's class was good to learn the fundamentals and highly recommended no matter which studio you decide on.
The class was just the right size of about 10 people. Mari, the instructor was the perfect teacher for beginner's. She taught us the history and vocabulary of Yoga in a very patient and caring manner. Never once did I feel stupid or out of place.
After graduating from the class my girlfriend and I decided to do the 2 month trial membership for $100, which is a steal! We started going 2-3 times per week and got to experience instructors of all kinds from men to women to drills sargents to nurturers. Classes with Tami were perfect for me and my skill level as she was patient and took the time to go over tough poses and correct your mistakes as she walked around and observed the class.
One other thing I discovered is that a lot more men do Yoga than I would have guessed.
Maya is a solid studio and offers all kinds of other services from acupuncture to meal planning. Most everything about the studio is inviting and convenient.
However, the scheduled times could often be tough to make and I often thought they could use more later times to accomodate people's work schedules. Sometimes it's hard to make 5:45 classes.
