Wow, I've gone here several times as a kid. Ever since the 3rd grade! It's an awesome place for kids. There are lots of hands-on activities and the animals are great! They also have a theater which is a plus. Admission is not expensive at all. It's located on the waterfront and is very easy to find. They have sharks, sea otter, octopus, and sea stars. Just great for kids in general, great for adults too. The staff is great, and it's pretty to navigate the aquarium. Check it out and write a review once you're done!
PROS: Great Location
CONS: Nothing!

Highway 99 is a fantastic place to hear all kinds of music - and what's truly amazing is that they get some of the best blues bands in the world to visit Seattle on a regular basis. It doesn't hurt that the joint is jumping with some of the most gorgeous women in town. Full bar, diverse line-up, super chow - it's become my regular hang, and a much-needed spot to dance the blues away.
Pros: Great blues tunes
Cons: sometimes too crowded

We love it!!! We have had a wonderful year coming to the Storybook Acting class at Urban Monkeys for our group of 4-5 year olds. Our kids wait all week for this amazing, dynamic class with the very sweet instructor, Mara, who all the kids love (we carpool 5 kids from the same preschool). When they get in the car they are so excited to go to Urban Monkeys and when they arrive they run in laughing, playing, screaming with excitement! They always want to get there before the class starts to run around in the lobby and play with the toys, balls and puppets. Then, Mara comes out and they get to pick an animal that the group turns into as they line up for class. For instance, they have been worms, crawling their way into the large gym classroom.
The environment is friendly, its a truly beautiful, well-lite space. I love to sit in the lobby and soak in the sun that pours in from the huge windows (when we have it in Seattle!) with my toddler as he plays with the toys while my daughter is in class. The owners greet me every time -- very nice people -- and the other people who work at the desk are delightful!! When the children get out of class (smiling, running happily), they get to color a picture to take home that relates to the book that was read and acted out during class. It is truly one of the best moments of our week to go to Urban Monkeys!! We are so grateful that a unique space like this was created for our kids to enjoy!!

Seattle is fairly dull architecturally. So it was a more than welcome surprise to see our old concrete box of a library replaced with the beautiful, modern new Rem Koolhas designed work of art. The building is fun and interesting to explore. Rooms and corridors, even the restrooms, are filled with color and shape and light. The entire building showers visitors with light and airy views of downtown and the sound. Plus, it will make your kids think the library is the coolest place to be.

When I was a student at the UW, this was a great spot to drop in a get affordable acupuncture, naturopathic care, phys med, etc. I appreciate the time the clinicians took with me (1 hr per appt!) and their attention to get to the underlying cause of the health concerns I presented to them.
Pros: sliding scale rates, student drop in price of just $20!
Cons: Student clinicians change shifts every quarter

Having moved to the neighbourhood 2 years ago, we were pleasantly surprised to find a traditional family store still around, surviving the pressure of those big, out of town conglomerate. Despite relatively limited space their selections are amazing and more than satisfy daily basic needs. their meat and wine departments are impressive and commendable. Here is to many more years of success!

Fortunately, this is a great store for Judaica because it is really your only Seattle option. They have fine gifts for Jewish events, and a nice selection of kutubahs, greeting cards, and calendars. They also have a beautiful selection of menorahs and candle sticks. The store is a little jammed packed with things and people. Closed Saturdays.

I recently had the pleasure to visit Jazz Alley to hear Stanly Jordan play a solo set.
Jazz Alley is probably one of the best all jazz venues I have ever set foot into. The entry fee is very affordable (most shows range $20-$30). I have seen the same artists play at Blues Alley in Washington DC for 3 times the price.
Reservations are recommended in advance although walk ins are welcome due to availability. Reservations can be made by phone, on line, or tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster (although not recommended due to outrageous ticketmaster fees).
The sound in this place is fantastic and there seems to be not a bad seat in the house.
The food is ok and overpriced but to be expected for this type of venue. The drinks are reasonably priced and a limited scotch list is available.
If you are a looking for a place to see a great jazz show, Jazz Alley truly is the premier venue for jazz in the Pacific Northwest.
See you all at the Ahmad Jamal show.

This is such a pretty spot, right in the city of Seattle. I especially love the Arboretum in the spring, when all the trees are blooming. There are tons of trails to walk on and lots of plants for you to check out along the way. Don't miss the japanese garden - it's really breathtaking. Go in the early morning or evening and you'll have great light for pictures.
