Great Pool 11/7/2005

Pocahontas State Park is a large lovely park in Chesterfield County. It is camping and a lake and lots of wooded area. The best part of the park is the pool. There is a small baby pool and two other pools that vary is depth. There is a large play pool with lots of things to squirt or dump and slides. There is also two large water slides and a fountain area that you can run through. It is definitely worth the admission. more

Great pool and nice camp sites 9/29/2005

Pocahotas State Park is a fun place to camp. The camp sites are well kept and the staff is friendly. There are trails to walk and playgrounds for the kids. The pool is fairly new. It is huge. It includes a water playground with shallow water for younger children. Kids like the pool alot. It is a popular place in the summer months. more

Nice State Park! 9/24/2005

Pocohontas State Park has everything you could think to ask for. The mountain biking and hiking trails are extensive and well maintained. The pool has been re-done and seems to be very nice, with some new water slides and fun activities. There are boat rentals, fishing docks, and an amphitheater to see shows and concerts. Every other weekend or so, during the summer, the have different performances at the amphitheater- everything from community bands to plays to cultural festivals. I have never been camping here, but the park is beautiful and I highly recommend it! more

Fun water park & other amenities 8/6/2005

This is one of Virginia's very nice state parks. There is of course the nature trails, camping, and picnic shelters, but honestly we go here in the summer for the swimming. There are several pools (kiddie pool included) and water slides. One pool is very shallow and full of activities for kids. They have water guns to shoot, buckets to spill on people, falls to play under, and slides into the water. We've been taking our son since he was 1. There are also 2 large tube type water slides and regular pools to swim in. You can bring your own food or buy from their concession stand. They also have changing facilities which of course are basic and the floor is wet. I suggest water shoes for the littles ones because all the concrete is tough on their feet. If you have a large group you can buy a ticket for 10 or 20 people. (Even if you don't use all the punches, it's cheaper than everyone paying full price.) more
