Villa Antonio is Charlotte's undiscovered gem. Picture this: You drive up to a quaint villa-style restaurant, complete with palm-like trees just gracing the front, just off South Boulevard yet easy to miss. Inside, the décor is warm, dark-wooded, and gently lit. The waiters in tuxes attend to your needs, but stand aside simply replenishing water and bread, if you desire to take 30 or 45 minutes before you even open your menu. They give you the impression nothing delights them better than tending to your needs. The food was quite impressive, although the lobster bisque was suppose to be in a sundried tomato-rosemary bread bowl and it was definitely just plain bread! The filet mignon encrusted in peppercorns in a kahlua-espresso cream was such a symphony of rich and beautiful flavors, I could not contain my delight! The desserts ALL looked tantalizing! Tiramisu was great. A guitarist walks about the dining room softly serenading dinner guests. The kicker: At 9pm Fri-Sun there’s live piano music in the bar room with the Italian dance floor! We danced and the music was wonderful dance-music, romantic and slow. The entire experience was our best Charlotte dining one ever! Wonderful for any anniversary!
