If you are from or around Charlotte this is something to see it is very interesting it is the oldest house in the county built way back in 1774 It allows you to see what was like during the revolutionary period as people dressed up back in the olden days take you on a tour of the whole house and explain to you what a typical day was like back then. It is very interesting and educational.

This is an excellent place to visit when wanting to learn about history! I love taking the tour of the historical home as it is very neat to see how things were done back then. There are tours offered for many schools and they see over 5000 school age students during the year! I went on a field trip there as a child and it has had a lasting impression on me and I continue to visit there quite often. The gift store is lots of fun and I have a hard time leaving without purchasing anything. Lots of neat period stuff!

The Charlotte museum of History is something anyone that is interested in the past or future for that would love. They have incredible exhibits from the various centuries and then they have an exhibit that is called the millenium gallery they also have a museum store so that you can take home something to remember the things that you have seen and learned there They also have special events goin on almost all the time right now they have a special event on swing dancing. The museum is a very good place to go no matter what age I would definately reccomend them.

The oldest house in the county is now home to 36,000 square feet of Queen City history. Contributor

The Scene
Located just up the road from the historic house of Hezekiah Alexander (who signed the Declaration of Independence, co-founded local Queens College in 1771, and co-framed the first North Carolina State Constitution and Bill of Rights), the Charlotte Museum of History emphasizes three themes: freedom, the influence of our environment and the changing face of Charlotte.
The Collection
Built in 1774, it's the oldest original structure in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. On the homesite tour, guides in authentic Colonial dress will show you around. After checking out the house, see the museum's collection of art, as well as everyday objects from the region and around the world that span from pre-Colonial times to the 20th century. Of particular note is a year-long exhibit about Billy Graham and the area's religious history.
