Ive been to Varji & Varji 3 times. On my first trip, I received one of the best haircuts Ive ever gotten. On my second trip, with the same stylist, I received one of the worst. I decided to give them a shot a third time, with a different stylist, and the cut was below average. Overall, the quality does not justify the $45 price. Pros: Great locations, cool design Cons: Quality of cuts

Max Varji runs a tight ship and has a successful salon because of it. It's true, you get what you pay for and you certainly will pay! Gorgeous salon and very professional. In 11 years, going to Max, I have never waited and am in and out looking FAB! Max makes it his business to make sure you are happy. He will do everything it takes to keep you coming back. If you ever have a problem at Varji and Varji, please tell him. He takes great pride in his salon and staff and will never disappoint! Went to Varji and Varji to get a trim. Was thinking that because it is an Aveda salon, my scalp would get a little massage while the stylist was washing it. Instead I received a very quick and non-relaxing wash (they were not busy at all during my appointment time). The stylist and I chatted about how I wanted the bottom of my hair cut. I said I prefer a V shape - not an inverted V and most definitely NOT straight across. When the stylist finished my hair, she did not give me a mirror to look at the backside. I didn't say anything because I noticed she had flipped the ends outward so I wouldn't be able to look at the cut anyway. Well, later that night, when I washed and dried my hair, not only did I discover that my ends were blunt cut, but the whole bottom was cut straight across. While I didn't mention anything about not blunt cutting the ends, I was very specific about not cutting the bottom straight across. I feel like what I wanted to have done was a rather simple request and the stylist said cutting the bottom that way would not be a problem. Unfortunately, that is not what she did. Pros: Nice Southpark location

Aletha does a great job of listening to what I want while also offering her opinions about what she thinks will work best with my hair type. I've been coloring my hair for over 10 years now and I definitely got the best color of my life when I started having Aletha color it !! She's also great fun to talk to while getting my hair done !!!

I had been spoiled when I moved here from Washington DC. My best friend there is a top stylist that is booked months in advance with all the "Who's Who" of the DC metro area. So for the first few years I would fly back on E-savers for her to do my hair, but that became too inconvenient. I started searching and after TONS of trial and error, I finally found Jason at Varji. Both the south park location and the Morehead street location are nice. Jason mainly works at Morehead which works best for my Elizabeth location. However I have zero hesitation to travel to South Park when he is there. He takes the time to listen and his cut is fantastic. After my second visit he had my color down perfectly (he had to fix a mess I brought him the first visit). He really funny and kind, and makes you feel right at home. I have had several strangers stop me and ask me about my cut since I started seeing him in November. After my very first visit, my mother took one look at the results and booked her own appointment for the following week. If you want a good laugh and a killer style, go see Jason! Pros: hair color and precise cut

Most Aveeda salons I've been to have a more soothing and "zen" like atmosphere, but aside from that it was a good experience. The front desk receptionist was very helpful, and my hairstylist, Ashley Morgan, did a great job of interpreting a photo of the style I wanted. I would recommend Ashley Morgan particularly to those who have thick, wavy hair. She is very pleasant, and really works hard to make sure her client likes their style. Pros: comfortable Cons: parking is limited, music too frenetic

Three weeks ago I had an appointment at South Park to get my hair cut. I already had hair that I (and everyone else) loved, but it was long and not completely professional for my very corporate job. I intended to get a few inches cut off. I'm new to the Charlotte area so I did my research on area salons. I chose Varji and Varji because they are an Aveda concept salon and I thought their stylists would be top notch. I was wrong. Three weeks later I am still regretting the decision. The stylist, without asking me and without ever getting to know my hair, thinned my hair! She started in the back so I didn't realize what she was doing until it was too late. I have a lot of hair but it is very fine and every stylist I have ever been to acknowledges that thinning my hair is the worst idea. Now, not only is my hair limp and body less (despite using product and spending significant time styling), it is also in drecreasingly poor health because of the poor razor job she did when thinning my hair. I never have split ends and my stylists always rave about the amazing condition of my hair. Now I have split ends. I went back to my stylist in my old town over the holiday weekend and she said the best thing to do was let it grow out. Considering she razored up to six inches of my hair, this will take months. Obviously I am angry. I have waited three weeks to cool down and I am still upset. Each day is a reminder of the huge mistake I made to put my trust (and hair) into the hands of a stylist at Varji & Varji. In the future, as any good stylist would know, Varji & Varji stylists should 1) get to know a client's hair (through at least a couple of visits) before making drastic changes and 2) NEVER thin someone's hair without first asking. Clients know their hair. Stylists should respect that and get good information from their clients. Pros: Uneducated stylists
