If you're looking for a pizza that resembles New York style, Portofino's is the place to go. Their simple sauce is flavorful without being chock full of dried herbs. It's just the right level of greasiness, too. I have not tried other items on their menu, but I've heard their other Italian dishes are great. Considering they now have up to four locations, I think people agree with me.

Payal Indian Groceries & Spices is located at 6400 Old Pineville Rd in Charlotte, North Carolina. They offer a variety of items such as frozen entrees, fruits, vegetables, and of course, junk food. I have been a customer of this store for years, and I have never been disappointed. In fact, I always come out of there thinking why did I wait so long going back there.
They are very friendly and knowledgeable about the products they carry. I have always found them to be nice, friendly, and caring. Each time I go in there I feel wanted as a customer. I love shopping there.

This is definitely a bigger, better & much more organized choice for Indian grocery. Most distinct feature is the whole fresh spectrum of sweets that you get here its really mouth watering. Rates are quite reasonable & also you get handsome discounts for buying stuff in bulk which is ideal for families.It also has a wide range of DVDs & VHS which you can rent it for nominal charges.

Located across from Southpark Mall, this Harris Teeter was actually named one of the five things you need to visit in Charlotte. A monstrous grocery store with all kinds of items available: there is hot food ready to go, custom made-to-order pasta and sandwiches, a huge salad bar, and an entire case of ready-made meals to choose from! The even have two deli cases – one for upscale items. The baked goods are everywhere and fresh artisan bread is available. The fish market in back is extensive with new fresh catch items daily. It’s also a regular grocery store too less I forget. Just beware of the shoppers that think their sh** don’t stink – they’re in abundance there!

Located in Uptown Charlotte, Reids Fine groceries is a great place to stop for a few hard to find items, lunch, coffee, or ice cream. Also located on the trolley line! I wouldn't do my regular grocery shopping here (I'd go broke) but like to stop in for gift items, chocolates, rare dressings, etc. They make a great cup of joe and my son loves to get a scoop of ice cream there! They will also make sandwiches for lunch time and have indoor and outdoor seating available.

Pasta & Provisions is a locally owned and operated Italian food store in Eastover. Their homemade sauces and pastas are fabulous. Their market contains hard-to-find items like imported parma ham. They're a little pricey for standard things, but they do offer a case discount on wine, tomatoes, etc. Very friendly, helpful staff.

This is a wonderful place to stock up on wine at great savings. Total Wine has a very good selection of wines from the world over at lower than average costs. You will not get them cheaper unless you go to a wine warehouse. They sent out flyers with monthly specials that are even more reduced – nice wines like the ’02 Benziger Reserve Chardonnay. Averages $30, they sell for about $25 and on sale it’s something like $21. Nice selection of California, Italian, Chilean wines. Great experience. They even carry a selection of half-bottles. Good beer/mixer section, didn’t look closely. Definitely the place to go to if planning a party with alcohol. Highly recommended.

The Asian population in Charlotte is growing in rapid pace and when I moved here, I could not find a place where I can get all my Asian groceries shopping done. New Century Groceries is a big supermarket that carries fresh vegetables, live fish, Asian bakery and there is even a meat department in the back of the groceries. The prices are very reasonable and the workers can guide you to the right aisle to find the product you are searching for.

Yes, they do cost a bit more than some of the other chains. But if you go in during a buy 1 get 1 sale, you can come out ahead of the cheaper stores, and get the better customer service. They always call me by name, and they offer to take my groceries to my car. They are friendly, and helpful. The store is clean, and items are easy to find. They have wonderful sales, such as the BOGO sales. My only gripe is that you do have to buy 2 to get the deal. Some stores offer BOGO, but if you buy just one, they charge half price. Not so at Harris Teeter. If you buy one, it is full price. So, even if I don't need two cake mixes, I have to buy them to get the discount. Not a big complaint, but the one thing I would like to see different.

Though the prices are a bit exhorbiant but can be of help in emergency. This store also has lots of stuff for religious ceremonies which none of the other Indian store has. You would also get utensils & other basic home made stuff.Also houses DVDs & VHS for rentals at a good membership rate.You get good discounts at the time of festivals on dry fruits etc
