I've been a huge fan of this place ever since they first opened. However, with new Executive Chef Tom Landers, owners Kevin & Ingrid Howard have really taken the place to a whole new level. You absolutely can't go anywhere in Charlotte for a better meal. Tom is so original and creative with his dishes, everything he serves is a "can't miss". Then the staff pairs this amazing cuisine with an incredible assortment of fine wines from around the world. And you're buying the wine at wine shop prices rather than restaurant prices. BIG difference. Great food + great wine + great prices = the best value food/wine experience in Charlotte.
If imitation is truly the sincerest form of flattery, then the other wine bars and restaurants in the area LOVE Vintage Wine Cellar as well. From the menu items to the wine events that Vintage has developed over the years, other local wine bars just can't help but copy what Vintage is doing. But no one does it better than the original.
Pros: Best food/wine experience in Charlotte; MUST try this place

I cannot say enough good things about Mama Ricottas. My girlfriend and I live in South Carolina and drive up to Charlotte once every month or so just to go to this restaurant. Having dined here 20 times since I moved down here I will say its my absolute favorite restaurant in the area. The food is always excellent and the drinks are always great with great service in getting them to you. You never will leave thinking you paid too much... overall it is very reasonably priced with an great atmosphere. We met the owner once and he was very respectful and appreciative. I would recommend Mama Ricotta's to EVERYBODY! Everytime I go back the food is perfect and I really enjoy the rolls and olive oil served before the main course...

Cons: There isn't another location in Rock Hill hahaha

The Melting Pot is a great place for any special occasion or date. Because you cook your own food at the table, it is a nice long (sometimes romantic) evening. You can do a cheese fondue (which I HIGHLY recommend...all of them...they are devine!!) Then you have the many entrees you can cook...seafood, steak, pork, chicken, duck... and then, of course, the CHOCOLATE fondue. They have like 20 kinds you can choose from...add nuts, marshmellows, etc... and dip with strawberries, pineapple, shortcake, etc... Absolutely my favorite place.

If you're looking for a pizza that resembles New York style, Portofino's is the place to go. Their simple sauce is flavorful without being chock full of dried herbs. It's just the right level of greasiness, too. I have not tried other items on their menu, but I've heard their other Italian dishes are great. Considering they now have up to four locations, I think people agree with me.

I couldn't agree more with other customers saying that this is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've tried. I'm the typical picky eater, but have been pleased with EVERY dish I've had. I've only visited the East Blvd location, but each time all of the staff were friendly & had no problems with the ordering, etc. There is, however a longer wait that I would like on Thurs - Sat, but hey, I'm sure the owner loves that problem. They deserve to be this busy. Really great food, great atmosphere! You should try it yourself.
