Paper Skyscraper has by far the very best greeting card selection in Charlotte....something for everyone. And, they have a terrfic selection of Skagen watches that are reasonable priced. I have been a customer for years!

I have had 2 wrecks in the past few years and each time, Mike has put my car back together, looking better than it did brand new. The first wreck, I had gotten several estimates for large, highly advertised garages. I was feeling overwhelmed and I was driving down the road & saw his sign, so I drove up. He took the time to do an estimate right then and it was honestly THOUSANDS less than anyone else. He even noted a few repairs the others had missed, and he was still substantially less! His work is excellent. After my second wreck, I drove straight to Mike's garage. His estimate was again, lower than even my insuance estimate. He is honest, straight-forward and one of the nicest people I have met in Charlotte. His work is top quality and his prices are amazing. He will even fix little things not included on the estimate. It's rare to find that quality nowdays, especially in car repair business. Thanks Mike! Danette Taylor

I like my bookstores independent, but this one is ok. Mostly competent staff.
Their cafe is really good though-- i'd give it 4.5 stars. Some really nice kids work there. Ask for a girl named Carlin.... she recommended I toast my cinnomen scone, when I bought one, and I'd never had it like that. So delish .... the B&N pastrie selection is far superior to Starbuck's; check out the scones & pretzels.

I love this Borders primarily due to the proximity to my home; however, some other traits of this store that keep me coming back are the coffee shop, the 3-for-2 tables (buy three books for the price of two [least expensive is free]), knowledgeable staff and gift ideas. I think you'd be surprised at how much of your holiday shopping can be knocked out in a book store. I love the fact that I can search their inventory online at home before making the trip to the store. Some of the employees who work in this store make the visit well worth it. Case in point: I recently wanted a particular Stephen King book that was missing from my collection, and this particular Borders didn't have it at the time. The lady offered to call other area Borders locations for me - she got it on the first try. The other Borders location pulled King's book aside, put my name on it and held it up front until I arrived. What service!
Pros: Plentiful parking; knowledgeable staff; DVDs; music; gift ideas; bookmarks; magazines; coffee shop with tables (outside seating too, weather permitting)
Cons: This location is in Stonecrest - on Friday and Saturday nights you will have to dodge groups of wandering, chatty teenagers in the parking lot and on sidewalks

Borders Books in Northlake has a great selection of books. Most of the time I can find what I'm looking for in-stock, and if not, they'll be happy to check the surrounding stores and either have me pick up or have my order sent to me. The Northlake location often has featured artists that come in, and they have cozy seating for those that want to sit and 'preview' books before buying. I make it a point to stop in every time I'm at the mall to see what's new.

Never had a particularly good experience shopping here. I've always had trouble finding a sales associate here, and their books are often misshelved.
I wish they had more chairs where you can sit and read! I like to start a book before I decide if I want to buy it or not ... The cafe is all right, but the Starbucks kind at B&N are better in my opinion.
