I have been taking my car to Steele Creek for almost 6 years. I have always had the best possible service that I could ask from any car service company. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and through, as well as very personable.
Over the six years, I have had two cars and way too many occasions to need repair. In those cases I have always consulted Steele Creek first. Not only is the business family run, but everyone is just so personable.
I will even come back to Charlotte just for an inspection or tune up because I trust Steele Creek. They are the best car servicing business in the Charlotte area, hands down.
Pros: Customer Service, excellent staff, great prices, everything
Cons: None

I'm not sure what has happened to Steele Creek Tire, it used to be good. I'm looking for a new tire dealer. Anyone know of one?

I've been taking my car to Steele Creek Tire for several years and have always received superior service. I've had tires replaced, brakes, inspections and many other things done. I've always found the owner Doug Gailor to be very honest and straight forward. I once brought my car in for what I thought to be shocks... after looking at the car Doug told me it wasn't the shocks at all, but my brake pads. But instead of immediately telling me I needed to have my shocks replaced like some shops would do just to get you money, he instead was honest and told me it was only my brake pads making the noise... and he even told me I didn't need to have them replaced right then, but I could afford to wait up to 5 months before it was necessary.
The mechanics are knowledgeable, the owner is honest, and overall I've been so pleased with them. I think the other people who left negative reviews need to realize that when you take your car somewhere for what you think is the problem, it maybe something else. And a honest place will tell you what is really wrong. Now if that is more expensive, that isn't the shops fault. That's just part of having a car, a used one at least.
Pros: Honest! Courteous!
Cons: none

I am shocked to read reviews that were not positive regarding Steel Creek Tire & Service (SCT&S)!!! We have been customers of SCT&S (owned by Doug Gailor) from the day it opened in 2003. Prior to that date, we took our vehicles to be serviced at Pineville Tire & Service - owned by Doug Gailor - and prior to Pineville Tire, we took our vehicles to Eastland Mall Firestone where Doug Gailor was the manager. We have followed Doug to every one of his places of business over the past 14 years because we feel that we receive TOP NOTCH, A++++ service and warranties. We drive over 20 miles each way to get our oil changed and for all other services necessary for our autos because we trust Doug and his business ethics and we believe he is honest and fair. We tried a couple of other repair places closer to home, but have always returned to SCT&S & Doug. We have sent numerous customers to Steel Creek and none of them have any had an unpleasant experience or walked away unhappy. We highly recommend Steel Creek Tire & Service; their excellent service, high ethics, brutal honesty, and friendliness are the best we've found in Charlotte and surrounding areas. In addition to those things, SCT&S is a clean, comfortable place if you have to wait for your auto to be repaired.
Pros: Friendliness, honesty, fair prices, quality workmanship
Cons: none

Unless you enjoy throwing money away, please do not take your car here to be serviced. I took my car in to be serviced, all it needed was a tuneup. At first I was quoted a certain price and hours later received a diagnostic for the things needing to be repaired on my car. I gave them permission to fix those things they suggested to be fixed. I ended up paying 3 tiimes as much as the initial quote for a tuneup. Thinking my car was fixed, I was very dismayed when my car began to steam, overheat and make popping noises under the hood. I was not able to drive my car 10 miles back home because of it's overheating. I remembered the 12 month warranty they gave to me letting me know that if anything went wrong with my car, they would be able to fix it. I promptly took my car back in. The young mechanic, smirked in my face, took the warranty and said (I quote) "we can't do anything with this (the warranty)". He then said they would have to "look under the hood" to tell what is wrong with the car. 2 hours later, he came back with a diagnostic sheet that totalled over $700 dollars in repair. You would think they would have mentioned these repairs with the first diagnosis (this didn't just happen over night). Not more than 24 hours after bringing my car in for a tuneup, I have repair bills totaling more than $900. Of course, the owner, Doug Gailor, has not been available all week to discuss this matter. Not only where the mechanics unfriendly, and even hostile, but the assistant manager was completely non-sympathetic and obviously unwilling to rectify the situation. Since this time I have taken my car in to a reputable place (AAA- to be exact); who said my hoses had a puntured hole in it. I really regret not taking seriously the first women who reviewed this place. Again, please do not go here!!! I would have given this place no stars if that were an option. We are hard working people and we do not deserve to be subject to the whim of con-artist mechanics.
Pros: I'm wiser about the lack of ethics of this place
Cons: Degraded, my car is worse than before I took it in, I'm out of money as a result, absolutely frustrated with the total non-existent customer service

Dec 2006 - I believe this business must have had a change in ownership or management within the last year or two. I am a mature female with a 2003 Honda Accord. A mechanic named Frank won my business a couple years ago by being very knowldgeable and honest. I believe he is still there, however my most recent experience on 12/11/06 to have my brakes checked has convinced me never to return. I asked that my front brake pads be checked, as I'd heard some grinding noise. The sleazy owner charged me $40, didn't drive the car, and came back with an estimate of $258 to replace the front brake pads ($105) and turn the rotors ($153 labor). I said I'd wait and he told me that "we may not be the cheapest but we're the best!" Right. I asked Discount Tire on S. Tryon (where I bought my tires) who they recommended and they gave me a very high recommendation of Almar Automotive on South Blvd. I took my car there on Wed. 12/13. They drove the car, checked the brakes, and Andy, the owner (really nice guy), told me that the front brake pads were only half worn down and to just take a hose pipe and flush the brakes out, that it was just probably some road debris making the noise. I will never return to Steele Creek Tire - just another example of an auto shop taking advantage. But I'll sing the praises of Almar and gladly drive to South Blvd. for anything else I ever need for my car as long as I live in CLT.
Cons: Rip off!
