My husband took me to Lantern for my birthday a few weeks ago, and I was really excited because I had heard good things. Unfortunately, I was let down. It's very small and they don't take reservations, so you have to show up early and hope for the best. Also, it is incredibly noisy in there. I think it is due to the high ceilings and it seems like they have tried to hang panels to soften the noise, but it's not working. The atmosphere would be really nice if they could do something about the noise.
All that aside, I was completely unimpressed by the food. The menu is extremely limited, so you'd think that what they do cook, they'd do a good job with. I had a special soup that was basically fancy, somewhat bland miso. I ordered the fried grouper and it was okay, but nothing extraordinary. Same with my husband's chicken entree. Overall, this place is not worth the expense.

The presentation of the food and the restaurant in general was fantastic. The restaurant is pan-Asian cuisine with a lot of "fusion" recipes, mixing different types of Asian flavors. Their menu is rotating and varies depending on what foods are available seasonally, so that you know what you're getting is always fresh. The food was really tasty and well done. The bar in the back is very nice with affordable drinks, especially for the college student.

I found Lantern Restaurant to be an absolutely great date setting! Located off Franklin Street, it was very convenient to get to. It is sort of tucked away from obvious view, so you have to go looking for it, but the search is worth it! Their asian cuisine is unbelievably delicious and well worth the price!

The Lantern is a wonderful little restaraunt tucked away on Franklin St. It offers asian cuisine with its own flair. There is also an awesome bar in the back that is open until 2:00 am M-Sat. An abbreviated bar menu is available until Midnight. It is the perfect place for a romantic night out or a get together with friends. Their food and drinks are the best I've found around.

Lantern is not your typical Chinese food-- don't come here for egg rolls or with the kids. It is upscale and chic, great for couples or groups of friends. The atmosphere is dark but cool, and the food is upscale (expensive, but pretty good). There are some very unique dishes, including the make your own salmon handrolls.
