If you want to eat lunch here, you'll have to get here early, or late. Apparently the secret's out, they've got GREAT food!
The food is fresh and very hot and VERY good. They have specials, and a frequent diner club.
If you speak Spanish, you may fare better. Sometimes there's a bit of an accent and they're usually rushing.
Their salsa is a little hot and they don't really have a mild, but will accomodate us with pansy tongues.

Located near Merchant's Square, this MCL Cafeteria is convenient to access from Meridian Street. The outside of the building is white-painted brick. Flower boxes are on the windows during warm months, usually holding beautiful petunia arrangements. The food is delicious, and the selection changes daily. Value plates help you get a round meal for a reasonable price.

Like it's big brother (The Glass Chimney) on Old Meridian in Carmel, Deeter's brings haute cuisine and a menu of Continental and French that satisfies every time.
Both are owned and operated by veteran Dieter Puska, after whom the restaurant gets its name (with just a small phonetic spelling change...Hoosiers raised on calorie-laden foods would have never entered the door of a correctly-spelled Dieters).
The Chimney would top the list of Best In Carmel, but Deeter's wins based on price.
The pricier (average entrée above $50) and dressier (coats required) Chimney is special but Deeter's is even more so.
The menu's similar, the chef cooks for both and they share a kitchen. Deeter's is less formal and easier on the wallet. And the food's just as enjoyable.
Reservations are recommended. And all major credit cards are accepted.
Just north of Carmel Drive (126th Street); east of U.S. 31 (Meridian Street)

Forget the calories - it's so worth it! When you go in you choose your ice cream flavor and whatever "mix-in" you want (candy, fruit, etc). They scoop it out and mix it all together on a cold stone. It's the best ice cream we've ever had. I personally love the cake batter flavor. It's quite expensive, but oh so good!

This little place serves the best and richest frozen custard. You can get shakes, sundaes, and other various frozen treats. Prices are fairly high. There is outdoor seating only. My kids love this place. We had to start referring to it as R's so they wouldn't know where we were talking about. Now they are catching on to that too.

We had 6 people in our party and were there in the middle of the afternoon. There were people at tables outside enjoying the weather and drinks. We chose to sit inside and had a fabulous time and meal. The servers were attenative, helpful and accomodating. The owner was also very personable and stopped at our table to chat as well. We had a great time!
Pros: Atmosphere and staff
Cons: Not that any of us were but didn't seem handicap friendly

This place is definitely worth the trip. The food is killer, atmosphere is "chill", and the alcohol is flowing! All those 21 or older, be sure to check out the new flavor of Yorkshire Rose Pub. The pub is under new management and the revitalization of a previously dying establishment is well on its way. Haha, I'm definitely feeling a good vibe in Yorkshire Pub; I've made an appearance in there nearly every weekend for the last few months! Come to watch a game, shoot some pool, listen to some tunes. Unlike the 'big guys' and Broad Ripple Bars alike, the calm atmosphere at Yorkshire Rose Pub is great for holding a casual conversation while having some good eats. I recommend the Chipotle Seasoned Steak; I had it yesterday and I'm sure you'd agree with me, it certainly hits the spot... or the Philly... and especially the Buffalo Chicken sandwich; I'm craving one right now... They have a full bar, imports, domestics, wells, and more. OMG I almost forgot, lol, the wings far exceed B-Dubs' standards; they're every bit as expensive as B-Dubs, but you probably get about twice the amount of meat! The old guys let the place go, but the new guys really seem to have their heads in the game. I'd hate to see this place lose out to the Corporate giants-- it has just about everything I could ask for in a neighborhood bar.
Whether you've been to Yorkshire Rose Pub before or not, shouldn't matter. Yorkshire is changing for the better and for your own sake, don't be the last one realize it!
Pros: Delicious menu, selection even extends beyond what's listed, down to earth people...
Cons: May be a little slower than usual, call ahead if you want a quick in and out...

This restaurant is a relative newcomer to Carmel. It really WAS a library and was restored and converted into a restaurant. It still has a LOT of library character.
They focus on having high quality fresh meats and fresh fish. Their menu changes daily, so always ask for the specials. The chef will also alter a dish if you have dietary needs.
Their prices range from $15-$25. Lunch prices and specials are a little less, dinner a little more.
This is also a nice place to have holiday lunches, or good bye gatherings for a co-worker.

Same chef, same menu as the white linen/black tie big brother next door that's much better known: The Glass Chimney. The only two differences are that at Deeter's a sport coat is dressy and the prices are about half those of the Chimney, yet all comes from the same kitchen! Save room for the Creme Brulee, and enjoy a wonderful wine list. Shrimp and tuna are excellent as are the steaks and duck, but you'll want to return often so the variety will never get old.
