We recently missed a home maintenance appointment with Appel. No problem, they called us to reschedule with no additional cost or penalty. We have also called Appel in an emergency and they were very responsive and thorough, even though our home builder used another heating company when the house was built. We rely on their periodic maintenance program and do not have any furnace or air cond. surprises. You can't go wrong with Appel. Quality people, quality work, very high integrity.

Furnace installed incorrectly. Not told about the mistake when the final inspection was completed. (Is this because the inspector didn't know what he was doing or because he didn't want us to know about the mistake?) After the final inspection.... finally allowed a technician to come check the sound of running water in our vents. 5 Gallons of water found in the bottom of the furnace. A permit was not applied or received prior to working in our home. A county inspector had to come and check the work.

In response to the review entitled Terrible Experience: I went out of my way from the original call to this customer's home to the second and final quality inspection, even taking multiple phone calls on the weekends including Sunday evenings. The customer negotiated the price down from the original quote, not the other way around. The installers made a small mistake on the installation of the system which we went back and corrected without hesitation. We did extra work for them replacing part of their duct work not included in the contract at NO ADDITIONAL cost plus offered them a free service contract and $150 for their inconvenience. Unfortunately even this did not prove to be enough to please the customer. At the point of receiving threats via the phone from this individual I realized it was time to write this one off. This is someone you just can't please. Our LICENSE to work in Marion County performing all HVAC work has been in place in its current form since 1984. This customer is making this her personal vendetta and is making various false accusations across the internet. Our check offering of $150 was accepted and the check was cashed within five business days.

Not only did the sales rep, Scott Appel, charge us extra for his mistake (he told us we previously had a heat pump when we told him it was an air conditioner -- then when the techs were installing the equipment, we had to pay extra from what was contracted since our thermostat wouldn't work with a heat pump -- he didn't even know what kind of equipment he was looking at! The techs put OUR FURNACE AND HEAT PUMP IN COMPLETELY WRONG! After two weeks of begging them to come back out because we could hear water running through our vents, they finally did. WE HAD 5 GALLONS OF WATER IN THE BOTTOM OF OUR FURNACE! It was awful trying to work with Scott Appel. He yelled at us and told us we were trying to get something for free. He gave us $150 back. That really covered the cost of missing two days of work and the concern for whether or not our equipment is even installed correctly this time. COME TO FIND OUT, HIS LICENSE EXPIRED IN 2005! BE CAREFUL WHO YOU CHOOSE AND DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST!!

We have used them several times. One time our heat wasn't working and they came out right away. It was freezing outside the technician worked out there for an hour. He ordered parts for repalcement and then came back at scheduled time. He couldn't get the furnace to work properly and ordered a second replacement. When that parts came in, our furnace finally worked. I really admire their spirit to stay with it and took care of us. They charged by the work done other than the times he came out here. WE are very pleased with their service and they are also top ones in Angel's list.
