Anton & Michel is a family favorite for traditional, very high quality dining in Carmel. We have even been known to have Christmas dinner here. However, there are two other options I would like to suggest.
For the ultimate, I-am-playing-Eloise-at-the-Plaza experience, I recommend lunch here. White table linens, formally clad waiters and diners who eat here every day - the waiter knows them by name, knows their favorites and brings their favorite glass of wine without so much as a hint. The diner is, of course, in her St. John suit.
Another favorite: dinner in the bar. Best bartender in the world: June. That is HIS name, and he is so sweet and never ever ever gets it wrong. The dinner menu in the bar is impressive: sand dabs, a couple filet mignon options, etc. I say etc. because after these two my eyes cross and I just get one of the first mentioned because they are so good.
