This is more of a TexMex rstrnt than a true Mexican restaurant. Style is a cross between mexican shabby and mom n pop joint. pretty worn out really. If your looking for a taste of ol Mexico, don't go here. Servers are college students. Cooks are probably the same. I don't know if it was the great drinks we had in the attached bar before or if it was truly good but we had a blast. You get a large amount of food and it was tasty.The Mexican hot wings are Amazing! Carbondale is a small place, Tres is one place that you need to go when your there.

I guess this is all a matter of opinion, but Tres Hombres is one of the furthest things from a true and authentic Mexican restaurant.
The salsa tastes as it came directly from a jar. I have tried three different entrees, and have been HIGHLY disappointed in all. The chicken taco salad came out with so much grease and water at the bottom of the bowl, that my taco bowl was as soggy as could be by the time I was ready to eat it.
The service was average. The one pro that I can come up with the place is that it does serve as a bar, which does have nightly entertainment. I've only been to the bar portion once, so I can't speak too much about that. Only the food portion, which was not all that great.

This classic Mexican joint is expaning right now and a great place to try the daily special or a drink of the day. They are half restaurant and half bar, the homemade salsa and chips are addictive.
