Well..since graduating high school in 75 and moving here and there, I have yet to find an Italian Beef sandwich that compares to IVs! True, this store is not even a quarter the size of Rural King down on the other side of town, but they are friendly folks and it serves its purpose. They offer seasonal plants and any type of feed, litter or bedding that you could imagine. This store is located in Wahington Square so bve aware that you will have to pay a meter to park here.

This local student bookstore is one of the best. Free parking, it is located on the strip nex to Quiznos. At the right time you can catch some neat cleareance items and watch out for their new scrolling marquee! This is the lrgest bookstore in Carbondale and offers the biggest selection of art supplies, but it is not cheap!

Trust me, there are not many good import shops in the southern Illinois region, and this place is a pretty safe bet. The repair shop in the back is filled with reliable but moderatly priced service technitions that did a pretty good paint job on my Accord. This is an area referred to as a "college town" but suprisingly not a huge selection of less expensive vehicles.

It is so hard to find a deli that isn't a franchise anymore, and this is a well-kept secret it the heart of southern Illinois. The deli in the back is a perfect stop for lunchtime, wher eyou can get a fresh deli sandwhich or single-serving of salds. Free parking but a bit pricey, so watch your spending.

I've been pretty happy with the things I've had printed at CopyMax. All of the workers are competent with the equipment, the prices are the cheapest in town and the customer service is head and shoulders above the Printing Plant or Staples. The color laser gives pretty true color, also.

I've only been to this bookstore once and it is much smaller than any of the other campus book stores. They do have cheaper prices and pay well for used books, but when I visited, they didn't have books for half of my classes. If you don't mind visiting several stores, you may save some money by shopping here.

This not-for-profit does a lot of good things for the community, like offering (Catholic-based) counsling, and I have seen them giving away for free bags of supplies for stuggling mothers such as toys, diapers, and food. I will gently warn you though that they offer to help pregnent monthers in crisis, but they are religious and will lean towards there views obviously.
