Japanese curry is not like Indian curry, it's basically a brown gravy sauce with a "cutlet" of something in it - chicken or meat - served over rice. The pictures on the menu look sort of the same but don't be afraid, they are all a little different. Very, very comforting when you are feeling a little low. Cafe Mami is tiny and often packed, so don't be surprised if the waitress puts a party of one at your partially occupied table. Eat and get out.

The unique thing is they weight the rice before serving to the customer. Their place is also strategic, they have s small japanese groceries store in that place.

Coming here is like stepping into a noodle shop in Japan, just not the long flight. Food is fantastic and portions are generous. Prices are reasonable in this college town. The wait for a table can be a little ridiculous, this shop is small and a wait can be a while. People like to sit and chill after their meal, fustrating other diners who are waiting their chance.

I go here all the time. If you like Japanese food and like to get it quick, then this is the place for you. The curry is to die for. There are carrots and onions in it and is served with miso soup, a small salad, and free refills of rice. The servers don't speak english that well, but are quick and efficient with the service. There is some waiting on weekdays, but never more than 10-20 minutes.
