Oddly enough, I first tried this Boston standard in New York, and it wasn't until this Porter Square location opened last summer that I had the opportunity to realize how truly fantastic it is. Emack & Bolio's serves some of the most fun and delicious flavors around. With fun names and creative combinations, there's ice cream here to suit every taste. The real bonus is the candy cones -- the Rice Krispies treat cone is to die for! The hours seem to change regularly, as the business still seems to be adjusting to its new location, but maybe that's just as well because otherwise I might eat more ice cream than I can handle.

When this opened up a little while ago right next to the entrance to my health club, I was a little nervous that I'd get tempted and totally negate the results of my workout. Yet I don't know if I've ever seen this place open. I usually work out late morning or early afternoon, so maybe it's only open at night? I'm not a big ice cream fan, but I've always enjoyed their other locations. However, I guess it's just as well because I have looked at their prices, and wowie! This place isn't at all cheap. They do always have some incredible looking waffle cones and other random things displayed in their window. The shop is tiny. There's no place to sit, so if the weather is bad I'm not really sure where you're supposed to eat.

This ice cream shop has wonderful smoothies. They have a menu where they have suggestions for different smoothies. However, they can make a smoothie with whatever you want in it including sorbet, sparkling water, juices, and fruits and it only costs $5.20. The only downsides to this is if you add something that makes the smoothie taste strange.
