The Garment District so many reviews!!! I want to give this place more stars but I just can't. Let me tell you why. Let me first tell you what I like about this place. They have so many great accessrories, costumes for so many different occasions like parties, halloween etc... For Halloween they are crazy busy, if you like to shop quietly come couple weeks in advance. I think Halloween is the busiest season for them. I was here and got some nice blue sunglasses and a great blue wig, I also got other interesting and cool accessories to fit my outfit. I also got a cute black customized T shirt. The lady employee made my shirt very fast and was very helpful and nice. I wanted her to use different color for each letter. The result was great. I like the shirt it came out nice. What I hate about this place: they really need to renovate the whole building. The building looks so bad. Who is the owner? The store looks too bad for Kendall Square Mit Cambridge area. Not only it looks bad but as soon as I get inside the store gives bad allergies. The whole store is full of dust. They sell brand new items, but they also sell old clothes by the pound. Clothes by the pound? That's just so weird. They have 2 floors. The staff is ok but not mixed at all. They have fitting rooms. I don't think I will be back their prices are very high. I will get my costumes online next time. Truereview here to tell you the truth.

I went here while looking for a seventies outfit for a party. They have a ton of clothing from all different time periods both new and used. They have a pretty good selection, but I found it was hard to find smaller sized clothing. They also have a whole area for costumes. Their prices are descent, although there were some things that i thought were over priced. It’s a great place to find retro clothing or costumes.

If you need BDU's, trenchcoats, fishnets, Special FX hair dye and the odd black t-shirt on a regular basis, the Garment District is essential. They've also got an incredible array of shoes, plenty of wacky tights, socks and arm-warmers, clothing made by local designers, vinyl skirts, silly hats and cat ears. They have a large vintage section, too. For Halloween, they've always got a good stock of costumes at a range of prices. In general, the Garment District is reasonably priced, especially the second-hand stuff. Some of it can be pricey, especially the custom-made items.

I hadn't been to this place in years and then went many times within a month recently when business took me to the area (meter parking is not too tough to find in the late afternoon). The room with the by the pound stuff just makes my head want to hurt -- they had a pipe that was leaking all over the clothes. The by the pound stuff was pretty disgusting and unfashionable, and even a yard sale/thrift shop junkie like me doesn't have much patience for their unruly piles. I did find a toy for my niece, which was totally random, but I can't imagine finding anything to wear. I guess I'm just getting too old, but even in the rest of the store I don't think I can stand to sift through all the stuff in the rest of the store. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. The staff is also weird and rude.

One of my most vivid college memories is from a day my friend and I ran all over Cambridge trying to find the elusive Garment District so we could find dresses for an upcoming 70s theme party. It was a cold and rainy day and we got there five minutes before they closed. The sales associate told us that they were not letting anyone in, and that we’d have to come back another day. On the way home I realized I lost one of my favorite mittens on the journey. I went back another day and was met by more polite sales associates and a beautiful 1950s Donna Reed style dress that I almost bought but didn’t because it was priced a little too high.

If you hate shopping and hate digging through racks, you will hate The Garment District. But if you have an hour or two to spare and some patience, you can find some incredible deals here. I skip Dollar a Pound now although it's an experience all its own to kneel in a huge pile of clothing and paw through it and pay for your picks by weight. And lots of the shoes are really mungy. But upstairs, I've outfitted myself for work with $8 blouses, kept warm with $7 sweaters, worn $12 Gap corduroy pants for years, and snagged a few $14 fancy vintage dresses the year I had three weddings to attend with all the same people. The place is a godsend if you want to look unique for less. The entire back room is vintage and it's a little overwhelming. Everything is organized by item (pants, sweaters) and color. For every ten dresses you'd never touch, there's one good one. There is also a small men's vintage section with lots and lots of shirts. Get on their email list (they won't spam you) and you'll be notified of the semiannual 50% off sale, usually in March and September, when they clear out seasonal stuff. The whole store is 50% off and if you never go at any other time, you'll win on these weekends. There's also hair dye, plastic costume jewelry, patches and a whole selection of wigs and other costumer wear.

This place wasn't really what I expected. They have a small selection of used clothing on the floor that you can sift through and buy by the pound, but do you really want clothing that has been trampled all over? Upstairs they sell nicer vintage and new funky clothing, but it's insanely expensive. The employee's aren't very friendly, which makes matters worse. It's not really worth the trip.

My friends and I went shopping for halloween at the garment district. It was quite an experience. This is a place where they have the weirdest and most unique clothes you will ever find. There are cheap cheap clothes here as well as pretty expensive clothes. There are hats, jackets, all different kinds of pants, all from different eras of US culture. You can also get cheap clothes for a DOLLAR A POUND. These are the really old, kind of dirty looking clothes but looking through this is like looking for buried treasure! It's fun and exciting! Just make sure you wash the clothes before you wear them.

If you are looking for some fun, cheap clothes or a Halloween costume, this is your one stop shop. I went here for the first time for a Halloween costume and ended up spending more money on clothes. You can get all sorts of fun, vintage clothes for cheaper than thrift store prices. They even have clothes by the pound. You can't beat that.
