My husband and I went there a week ago for dinner - we'd never been but had heard friends rave about Roots. I loved the ambiance - classy but comfortable but the food was really the star of the show!
I started off with a pineapple cilantro margarita - it was spicy and delicious, well-balanced, a really well-made drink. My husband and I shared the crab and avocado appetizer with vermouth viniagrette - when it arrived we were both surprised at how many huge fresh chunks of crab there were. It was delicious and after we took a bite we both looked at the menu again because we couldn't believe it was only $11. It doesn't happen often, but I just love getting really fantastic food for a great price - it makes me happy. :)
Our server was very helpful and attentive as well - she knew her wine, offered me samples and helped me pick out a glass that went with my short ribs, which I had next.
They were served with some delicious greens, root vegetables and pickled horseradish - the ribs were
meltingly tender with the perfect amount of fat mouthfeel without it feeling fatty at all. Plus, once again the portion was huge - I had a full dinner plus a big lunch out of the leftovers. The amount of value you get for the price at Roots really amazed me.
Especially since our meal had that 'certain something' ...you know how you can tell when the chef really cares about their creations? It's hard to put your finger on but you know it when you taste it. Roots has got it. Thanks for a wonderful evening - we will definitely be back.

K cooks with a touch of Hawaiian and the Portugese sausage, rice and eggs is an "onolicious" breakfast for those who love sausage. Meal comes with a whole slew of sausages two heaping scoop size rice and eggs (oh yeah some bread too!). My buddy had the teri burger with pineapple and loved it. (Wonder if that would be good with mac salad?) It was humongous for him (minabird stomach).
Will I go back again? Yeah to talk story with K (short for "Kea") and to try some more stuffs.
Place reminds be of "Old downtown Hilo" or Kalihi/Waipahu/or the North Shore on Oahu where you can find off the road places to eat where they serve good and plenty food.

Great food worth the wait. Call in ahead so you don't have to wait as long. I ordered the "TOP BURGER" and Make sure to order the fries which are wonderful. Finally, The patty on my Burger was huge but still was able to complety cover the bun. different from the thin little thing other places use.
Pros: Great Food at a Great Price. Shakes are amazing

Take and Bake pizza shops are always a good deal over their dine-in counterparts. Papa Murphy's goes beyond that. A little know secret is that they accept competitor's coupons as long as they are not size specific. I can order a family sized combo pizza for about $7 at Papa Murphy's. I usually purchase an Entertainment booklet and find dozens of 50% off or Buy 1-Get 1 Free coupons. I use these coupons at Papa Murphys to walk away with a great deal!

I really like the pizza at Pizza Palace. The price is a little high, but that is what you have to spend for quality pizza. There are some games for the kids to play while waiting for the pizza to be cooked.

Pizza Palace is one of my favorite hometown pizza parlors. Great location, right on the Washougal River, so grab a seat with a view! The pizza is fresh, hot and soo good. Especially try one of the pizza sandwiches. They have great steak fries as well. PP has games to help entertain the kids while you wait for your pizza, and lots of room for party's or gatherings.
