Maid of Scandinavia ...a great company 12/5/2021

I began ordering from maid of Scandinavia when I was sixteen.....I'm over 70. Great! Company. I am still using items I purchased then. Sorry they closed. Their reps would always answer questions and they were one company I could always count on for good value, good quality, variety and I have only good things to say. Thank you for being there for me through my baking fun times. Liz noyes more

KitchenKrafts of Waukon Iowa IS NOT the former Maid of Scandinavia or Sweet Celebrations 11/10/2017

Upon searching for the former Maid of Scandinavia, the first search item came up as KitchenKrafts of Waukon, Iowa. This company is by no means the former business and other than being about 75 miles away, they are NOT in any way associated or acquired the former Maid of Scandinavia or Sweet Celebrations as they are inferring by their website. The company in Iowa is a poor representation than the former company which was helpful, offered a wonderful staff and more than a service department and pricing which while they were a mail order service, was at the time some of the lowest pricing for the products available. Maid of Scandinavia had the largest number of items offered anywhere in the country by mail order. They also offered a baking 'club' which sent out a subscription newsletter which copies are still valued and offered for considerable amounts on eBay and other sites. ShopBakersNook has also been referenced as company which was the prior Maid of Scandinavia, which it is not. The company closed and for a short time another owner attempted to run it but only lasted under a year. The owners were older and delightful folks and the new 'owner' was unable to provide the service which resulted in the business permanently closing. Some stock was returned to the vendors and the rest was sold by a sourcing company who eventually auctioned off the last items. There is not another company which offers the selection or guidance which Maid of Scandinavia provided. Like many things, it was a gem, who provided many decades of loyal service and quality products which has become lost in our world of foreign cheap products and experience holds no value by the younger generation. more

Maid of Scandinavia is now ShopBakersNook 7/27/2014

I put in a search, and the company name has changed. Their new name is ShopBakersNook and their website address is www.shopbakersnook.com. more

What's a decorator to do 2/5/2009

Does anyone know a store in the Twin Cities that is comparable to Sweet Celebrations? I've been ordering supplies online but it is just not as much fun as shopping in a store. Sweet Celebrations, you are sorely missed! more

Store is closed 1/30/2009

The Sweet Celebrations/Maid of Scandinavia have been closed since Oct.2008. I used to go there at least once every month for decorating supplies. Now I am not sure where to buy supplies. Michael's and Joann's don' t always carry the things I really need, like large cake boxes and boards. more

closed or not 1/23/2009

I am wondering if they are closed. I have called sweet celerations # and the say it has been disconnected. The store in maplewood has a sign on the door stating that they have gone out of business and that they didn't relocate. more

are they in business 10/20/2008

I have called on many different days and at different times and always get the"please hold for the next agent" message. They have never answered the phone. more

Great cake decorating shop! 9/25/2005

First of all, the store is now called "Sweet Celebrations", but it is the same store! It seems that every year my kids always want to pick a birthday theme that isn't "traditional". Hence I am always stuck with trying to come up with a good idea for a cake! Every time I am stuck, I go there for ideas. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful! They have all the decorating supplies you could possibly need. They truly are more concerned about you doing what you want instead of just trying to sell you things! For example, my son wanted an army cake (this was PRE-9/11 - now you can find them anywhere). They gave me the idea of doing a camoflauge cake! While time-consuming, it was super easy and I already had the food dye to do it! They are helpful and have a great variety of items! I highly recommend this store! more
