This is one of our favorite Italian restaurant in the Bay Area. We have been there on our own and with friends. The service is always excellent, the food delicious, the wine list not extensive but very good. Make sure to get a place upstairs at the balcony. It's more private up there.

Sapore is a restaurant I stumbled upon walking down Burlingame. I had the risotto and a glass of the house white wine. Both were great, however I felt the portion was too small. I was still hungry after I finished my meal. The staff was friendly and the wait was not too long. I will be back again, however not on a night when I am super hungry.

I went here for a business luncheon and had the Gnocchi. It was excellent. I also tried some of the other dishes at the table and I found that everything was very fresh and perfectly seasoned. The selection is just what I would expect from an authentic Italian menu. I really can't wait to come back here in the evening to try the wine list and other great items.
Pros: Real authentic Italian feel, the interior design is very cozy.
Cons: can't think of any

This is an awesome neighborhood Italian restaurant. I?m there almost weekly. I love it there. The service is always great. The owners and the staff are the friendliest bunch. The pastas are cooked to perfection. I don?t know how they do it, but every last piece is just the right tenderness. My favorite is penne bolognaise. Try it with a glass of Montelpulciano. I also like their lemon sorbetto with a shot of lemonchello. Usually you can get in without reservation, except may be Friday & Saturday nights. Prices are average. Pastas are around $15. With a glass of wine, desert, and tip expect to spend about $40-45.
Pros: Very authentic Italian food
Cons: On very busy nights the kitchen can get backed up

I was there yesterday, a Thursday evening around 7. The waitstaff was friendly enough. But the food was only average for an Italian restaurant, nothing out of the ordinary on the menu. My scallop-shrimp dish was unexciting.
The primary characteristic I will remember is the very high noise level. I sat across the table from my dinner partners and we all had to raise our voices significantly to be heard. My hearing is fine, but I felt like I had a hearing aid that couldn't tune in to the conversation.
It isn't a lousy restaurant, but I'll look for a different one the next time I dine in Burlingame.
Pros: Cute ambience
Cons: Noise noise noise.

I found this restaurant while using city search during my recent visist to the Silicon Valley. The restaurant is located in a very nice area, and was just perfect! Small and quaint, wiht a menu selection not too large, but with great Italian choices and wines!
If you are looking for a nice, relaxed, affordable (only $76 for 2 with appetizer, wine and dessert!), then this is your place!

I used to frequent Sapore about once a week and the food was always excellent. Entrees are mostly $9.95-17.95. However, on a recent visit, the food had deteriorated. It's now "fine", not "great". The pastas are no longer homemade.
The staff was still very knowledgeable about specials and all items on the menu and was able to make good recommendations.
The restaurant is always bustling, even on weekdays, so try to make reservations. That also means if you're looking for a romantic place, this isn't it. It's more lively than romantic, as tables are very close to one another. A wide range of attire is acceptable, as people go in jeans and in suits.
