Talking Leaves is by far one of the best bookstores in the country. With a small, intimate staff, and a selection stretching back over nearly 40 years, there's nowhere you can go wrong with this store. Sure, there's not a lot of space in the store, and it's jam-packed with books-but that adds to the charm of the store. If you truly love books, then this is the place to go. the staff knows what they're doing, and they seem to love their jobs. As for prices; although you can't get books for 2 dollars each, what's a few bucks for a good book?

Favorite book store ever. some hard to find stuff as well as plenty of fiction. Great staff who are more than willing to help if you are looking for something in particular. As a bonus they host art, music, and poetry events that draw directly from the neighborhood. Every time I return to Buffalo I make a point to take at least one trip if not more. Last time my bag was filled with great books. All of which I enjoyed thoroughly. Even came home with some stuff that I didn't knowq I needed. What the world needs more of - small business, locally owned, that's supportive and involved in their community.

Barnes & Noble "in person" is just as fun and diverse as shopping from your computer. You get the added bonus of being able to actually touch the books which is a bit "old school" but such a nice perk.
This location is located on Niagara Falls Blvd in the Target Plaza (Applebees, Babies R Us, Lowes, Kmart, etc are all located in this plaza area). It is right off the 290 going south on Niagara Falls Blvd. It is central to just about any type of store or restaurant you can think of.
The bookstore is amazing and large. The layout is a bit confusing though with 3 little boys in tow, I think I'd have been better suited to explore had I been flying solo. The books were arranged neatly and appeared organized. There was comfortable seating throughout the store to accommodate the reader of any age.
I was on a mission to get a Starbucks gift card, you see, this B&N actually has a coffee shop and sitting area to enjoy a good book and sip some joe. Another great perk. Though I was sad to realize they don't sell Starbucks gift cards at this "satellite" location. Not to worry though because the real Starbucks is on the other side of the plaza and I got what I needed after our B&N adventure.
Since we were there we had to explore the children's book area. Keeping in mind I have 5, 3 and 1 yr olds, this was still a place where we could hang out for over a half hour!! What a great place. The diversity of books was massive. I found 2 books for gifts I needed. The boys enjoyed exploring books and the "play area" with the Thomas the Tank Engine train table.
No trip out with the boys is complete without a trip to the bathroom. Of course it was located in the direct opposite corner to the children's area. It was clean and accommodating.
There were a number of staff working there and they all seemed busy, busy, busy. I was a bit disappointed in the customer service by the actual B&N staff (the guy at the Starbucks counter was very helpful). I was there for a good amount of time and not one person asked if I needed help or assistance. I actually may have purchased a book I've been thinking about getting for myself had someone asked me if I needed anything. The cashier was efficient yet again lacked a friendliness about her. Maybe they need a refresher in customer service. Even though I had small children in tow doesn't mean I don't deserve the same level of service and respect as others.
Overall the trip was a success and we shall return again.

I cant imagine anyone outside of the UB campus attempting to come to this store. The primary purpose of that store is to buy textbooks or purchase UB affiliated items. I'm not even sure if this is worth rating...

This great little bookstore on Main Street has a wide selection of unique and hard to find books. I stumbled upon this bookstore when I needed to find a rare literature book that my English Professor recommended. The prices are comparable to the larger bookstore chains and their service is amazing. I highly recommend checking out their selection of books on local topics.
PROS: selection
CONS: nothing

I cant say enough about Branes & Noble. Wow! How do they put so many books in such a big store? I am used to shopping for books' at K-Mart, and their section isnt nearly as big. They have books on cooking, and travel, and sci fi, and magazines, and sex (hehe) and history and classics and fiction and non fiction, and everything else. Some of the books' are kinda pricey, though. Maybe they could get in some used books for cheaper? You can get Starbucks there, to, but they got mad when I spilt some of my coffee on the Dr. Phil display. I think they should of thanked me.

Don't be fooled by the store's names. Even though the store does sell Greek (Fraternity and Sorority) attire and items, it also sells cheap used textbooks. It's one of the best bargain bookstores in the city for college students looking to save a buck or two. Stock and selection of used textbooks can be limited. This is due to the amount of students selling back their books. Either way Greeks & Sneaks offers the best price. You can call in and ask whether they have the book you are looking for and they can hold it for you. Located just 5 minutes away from UB's South Campus this bookstore is a good find.

I enjoy browsing Barnes & Noble. They have a great selection of books. One of my favorite things to do is go in and browse for a book that I can't put down until the last page is turned. Customer service here is great! They also aren't afraid to tell you which books are good and which are duds. Prices are average too

A nice place to go and browse books. There are not too many bargains here, though. The bargain table is usually stocked with stuff that doesn't sell, so nobody actually wants any of it.
The atmosphere is nice, though. The coffee shop is stocked with some nice treats, although the coffee itself could be improved - It's a little over-roasted which gives you that MMmmm ashtray taste.
Every once in a while, they have live bands come in, which can be a nice touch.

This is Buffalo's local bookstore. This location is right on the Elmwood strip so it's located near a lot of small and independent restaurants and shops. The store is attached to a coffee shop next door, and offers a membership providing discounts on books. The store has a wide collection of books, and if they don't have what you're looking for, they'll order it for you. They also carry publications by local authors. The staff is fun and friendly, and also very knowledgeable.
