Buyer beware.
Don's Auto Body, Inc. - on Union Road in Buffalo/Cheektowaga, NY - provided me with unsatisfactory service.
In restoring a classic car, Don's Auto Body billed me above and beyond the agreed upon estimate, without ever contacting me for permission to do so during the almost 5 months in which the shop had my vehicle.
In addition, they performed the following services wrong or incorrectly: Painted engine the wrong color, heavy drips and runs in the clearcoat on the hood, trunk, and doors, damaged power window tracks by caking them with sanding dust and other foreign material (the windows rattled and bowed out the doors when raising and lowering - I have repaired them, but they still rattle and make noise, although they no longer bow the doors), improper alignment of rear tail-fin / bumper-filler fascia, improper application of trim to the rear tail-fin / bumper filler fascia, defective paint work (there are 14 spots [at last count] where the paint is either cracked, blistered, or dimpled - it becomes worse each time the car goes into the sunlight / heat], improper application of rear window chrome trim [the trim is bowing up at the passenger side corner].
In addition, while my vehicle was at Don's Auto Body, it was removed from the premises without my permission twice. Once, an unknown person (with Don's Auto Body's permission) took the vehicle to supposedly have some work done to the back window at another shop... I never gave anyone permission to drive the car. Secondly, the car disappeared for an extended period of time (days), and I had no idea where it was. To this day, no one can prove to me where the car was or how it got back.
Don's Auto Body tried to bill me approximately 23,000 dollars (US funds) when I had only agreed to a WRITTEN estimate of 10 to 15 thousand dollars. I later was able to talk him down to around 17,000 plus tax, but not after a lot of aggravation.
Don's Auto Body now refuses to correct their work on the vehicle. They will not fix the blisters or cracks in the paint. I am currently working with the Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York in an attempt to get Don's Auto Body to fix their work.
If the BBB cannot help me resolve this, I will have to take Don's Auto Body, and it's owner Don Staubitz, to court for the damages.
I would not do business with Don's Auto Body again. Nor would I reccomend anyone to do so. I do not feel their owner nor management is honest in any way.

I had a little accident with my car. I was recommended to go to Don's Auto Body by a friend. She had work done there and it was great. They fixed my car and it looked like brand new. They are very helpful the price was not bad. They did superior workmanship. If ever I need repair work again I will go back.
