My husband and I frequently visit Carmine's in Bryn Mawr for dinner at the bar or a drink before a movie next door at the Bryn Mawr Movie theatre. The food is great, and I highly recommend the Crawfish Spring Rolls as an appetizer. The barkeep, Matt, is awesome as well. Happy hour I think is Tues-Fri at 5pm that has cheap Hoegarden drafts or wines by the glass. It gets loud at night but makes it fun. Highly recommended.
Pros: Bar selection, food, timing, service
Cons: Loud with live music on Fridays/Saturdays

We ate at Carmine's on a Sunday which is BYOB. eal.We were greated and seated promptly. The waitress was helpful and all questions were ansqwered without hesitation. The Duck Jambalaya Croquettes were to die for. Greaseless in a spicy sauce the beggest to be sopped up with bread. Main courses of the ribeye steak and blackened red snapper were perfect. Portions were large and there was enough ribeye to serve as a second meal.
If you go on a BYOB night, bring a big wine. The food deserves and demands it.
Pros: Quality and Quantity of food, Service

This restaurant is packed and if you don't have a reservation, you will be waiting for a long time. Since there's no good place to wait, you will also be in everyone's way until they do find a table for you. The food is rather good though, so you may feel that it is worth it. The decor is great but the restaurant can be quite loud.
Pros: Food, Ambience
Cons: Long waits, Noise

Just to clear things up for folks that don't already know, its actually not a BYOB anymore, but has a full bar and nice wine list. To begin with, the service was great. We were running close to 30 minutes late for our reservation on a Friday night, but when we finally arrived, we were greeted with a smile and promptly seated even thought the restaurant was already close to capacity. Our drink orders were filled quickly and our entrees were ordered soon after. The specials that we ordered were great, and I recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal with a bayou twist.
Pros: Great Food, Fast Service and good location
Cons: none

Why go where the Wakim brothers are? The food is lousy, the service is lousy, the bill is way way too high. Go where you are cared for as a patron,
not Citron.
PROS: none
CONS: owned by the Wakims

Recommended dishes - She Crab Bisque; Smoked Gouda Tart; Crab Cakes; Jambalya; Chicken & Waffles -- it's BYOB and cash only. I highly recommend making reservations. If you have a large party (10 people), they now have a private room on the second floor.
Pros: reasonably priced, great specials, lively atmosphere

not the same since narrowing their menu. It used to be great when they first opened with all the nightly specials, now there isn't too much special about the place at all. Can the owner afford a new shirt or does he only own black?! Hey we ate there again tonight...mistake! We waited for 40 minutes for our "reserved table for 8", they sat 8 of us at a table for 6, we asked for another table, it bemt the hostess out of shape! Our waiter sucked, we had to ask for water, bread, please clear our plates, het could we know whatyou have for dessert? 20 minutes later, could we please have our check... never refilled our coffee, we had to ask for water several times, the food was not so great... lesson learned... never again! P.S. Your shirt is too small (owner) and you are not that hot!
Cons: cramped, late seating us, poor service

My wife and I love to go to Carmine's. We now are making up "special occasions" just so we have an excuse to go! The foie gras is unbeatable, and the daily specials are almost always worth trying. Chef Mims's lobster with coconut sweet rice topped with fried oysters may have been the best entree I've ever had. A hidden gem.
Pros: food, value, parking
Cons: small
