I'm new to the area and was looking for a good salon when I happened upon this one on Citysearch. After reading the reviews, I'm convinced they don't deserve the shiny rating they currently have. It strikes me as odd that they get one bad review, then out of the blue 8 people decide to write 5-star reviews of the place over the course of only 4 days... Seriously, what are the odds?? Sounds more like the owner trying to stuff the ballot box to me... But that's just my personal opinion.

If you're looking for a great hair salon that will take the time to determine what you want, then deliver it, you can't do any better than here. I've got really long hair, and Sophie is the best -- I wouldn't let any one else touch my hair for a cut or highlights! No worries about having a bad cut/color which will take forever to grow out. I'll drive an hour to see her, or even wait months if I'm out of town. She takes the time to get my hair just the way I want it for whatever occasion or season.

My boyfriend lives in Philadelphia so I come out here often to visit him and the only person I will let TOUCH my hair is SOPHIE! I have no idea how that other girl could say that instead of 2 she took off 8-10 inches??? I mean didn't you LOOK at your hair before you left the salon????? ANYWAYS! I am new to the area and have been looking to find a salon that I TRUST!!! For the Last 30 years there has only been one person, my aunt, who has touched my hair. After I moved away from my family, I was scared to go to a different person and get my hair done. I went into numerous salons from Philadelpia up the mainline and walked out because something just did not feel right! But on this day, something was different... As I walked to the door I was very nervous, pesimistically thinking "Here we go again, I will probally be out of here in 5 minutes." BUT the instant I walked into A Cut Above I felt a warm welcoming from the staff that started to put my nerves at ease. I was a few minutes early for my appointment so I sat down and waited for my turn. The owner, who was going to cut my hair, stop what he was doing, came over to me, greeted me, offered me beverages and snacks and gave me a quick synopise of how the salon operates. My nerves again, started to calm even more. Now I was feeling like royalty. This man, did not have to do that for me! I was SO NICE!!! When it was time for my appointment, Skip sat me down, went over my face shape, styles that would fit, not fit etc.. I asked him to take off 2 inches and he LITERALLY MEASURED TWO INCHES JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED!!!! I WAS SO BLOWN AWAY BY ALL THIS PROFESSIONALISM!!!! Once the cut was finished, I felt like a new person! MY HAIR HAS NEVER LOOKED BETTER (oops..hope my aunt does not see that part)!!! I have done nothing but brag to my friends and co-workers about this place! Hands down, From the staff, the looks, the finished product, (hey I lived in Beverly Hills and New York City) THIS IS THE BEST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!!! I am completely shocked by LUTER's Review. I have had the same exact bad haircut experience at a DIFFERENT salon and can't even imagine having that kind of bad experience at A Cut Above...I just moved here from the NYC area and went to A Cut Above on recommendations from my friends in the area who all go there. My stylist was great! Not only did he talk to me about face shape and suggestions, but he was really understanding about making gradual changes and my fear from bad haircuts of the past. It was really nice to be listened to and come out with a great haircut on top of it. I will definitely be making A Cut Above my new salon of choice! Pros: Staff really listened to EXACTLY what i wanted--great service!

my girlfriend and i though we should go get our hair cut. today, its raining, nothing to do. so I took her to this place near my school. it is place is nice and cozy, i knew my girlfriend would feel confortable. they accept walk ins, PERFECT! we walked to the salon and this nice young stylist was able to take care of us after finishing up a client. my girlfriend had her nails done while i was getting my hair trimmed. i went to get money while she was getting her cut. NO CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED BUT IT'S TOTALLY WORTH IT! Pros: friendly staff Cons: n/a

I went to this salon to have my highlights done about two weeks ago. I was so satisfied with the result that I just decided to go back to the same stylist (Priscilla) to get my hair cut and styled. My highlights are this natural honey beach color, she took time to listen what I was looking for and used a different coloring technique than what I am used to. I am also very happy with my new cut, I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone. They will continue to get my business and that of my family. Priscilla took great care of me! Pros: Great coloring technique and result Cons: None

There is a new service at A Cut Above Salon and Day Spa called Yeh's Art of Healing. The therapist there has been trained both in Japan and in US, and I had a wonderful combination of Eastern and Western therapeutic massage. I have a chronic pain on my knees, shoulders and back, and they were really hurting at that time. Within 5 minutes, she isolated the precise pressure points that needed therapy and started to work. After 60 minutes or so, I felt like a new man. Before the treatment I could not even stand straight because of the pain, but after the treatment, I felt so good that I can not only stand and walk straight but the puffness I had on my calf disappeared as well. It is so good that I will be bringing my parents and siblings to this place. I recommend it to anyone with heavy stress or chronic pain like me! Pros: Parking, Friendly yet Professional Staff, Peaceful Ambience Cons: Need to book an appointment early
