i got a diane von furstenburg cardigan for $17, a D&G blouse for $21, and an Anthropologie cardigan for $17 (orig. $78), and a Laundry little black dress that fits me like a glove. There are SO MANY wonderful clothes and accessories here, though you do have to sort through some things that you aren't interested in to get to the really great finds that fit your style. I'm not a grungy hipster, though when you're there, it's mostly shaggy heads and super-tight jeans (guys and girls). But depsite this the store has something to offer anyone, for example, I was looking for more chic pieces, and was quite successful at finding them. Great selection here, and easy to move about. No tax and friendly staff. You HAVE to visit this place! Also, great little eateries in the area.

they had a little coin-operated pony ride outside and i also liked how friendly the woman behind the counter was. will definitely return next time i'm in brooklyn.

Spoonbill is located in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. I needed a particular book for my art class assignment & after some research found it listed on Abebooks.com through Spoonbill. After discovering they had the book in their store, I headed down to Williamsburg and I'm really glad I found them!
While the majority of their collection is focused on art, architecture and design books (lots of these), they also have a ton of regular books for memorabilia, fiction, cartoons, etc., that's rapidly growing. The staff are really easygoing. You can tell this store is a labor of love. (book love)
Prices are well below Amazon or other major retailers. They also have several author/artist meets (discussions) a year. This bookstore reflects its constantly expanding artist community.
PROS: Lots of Books, Cool Staff, Great Prices, Relaxed Atmosphere
CONS:

I am reluctant to share this gem of a shop with others because Butter consignment resale clothes are so carefully selected, whether it be 1930'3, 1940's, or 1950's Vintage; hard to find pieces that may be the early designs of some of the best in clothing names, or recent picks of top designers. I have found them here and grabbed them up. I stop in every few weeks, always finding some 'must have' item. I live in Manhattan and make the trip to Butter because it's worth it!
Pros: Great and varied selection, priced right, high quality clothes, clean clothing in great condition,
Cons:
Overall user rating: Highly Recommended

This place is huge with multiple floors of mid century modern pieces and furniture literally piled on top of each other. It's cramped but that's part of the fun - going through the nooks and crannies of each floor. This weekend, my husband and I came away with amazing chairs at an unbelievable price. The person who helped us answered all our questions, arranged delivery and gave us an upholstery recommendation. The chairs came the next day exactly as scheduled. A smooth transaction on top of a great bargain.

This is a fun store to check out. Sometimes it's just full of Target and H&M's old seasonals but there are always gems lurking! Decent prices, and you can also sell your old clothes for consignment. I like this place better then Becon's Closet...
