It's nice to have a place to go other than La Villa pizza (as good as La Villa is) for a big group to dine in Park Slope. Excellent food, complex flavors and textures. My fave is the skate, which is prepped in a unique, fanned-out cut, then broiled savory and crispy on edges, served with a silky smooth puree of cauliflower. I would love to try more dishes but I can't help ordering that one, twice now! My husband loves the lamb.

For anyone used to their local video store being either an impersonal, oversized megafranchise whose most interesting offering is the latest shoot-em-up or rom-com, or a dingy storefront unhelpfully cashiered by a bored drone whose main job is ensuring no minors sneak beyond the curtain into the soft-core section, Photoplay is a refreshing change of pace. A friendly rental place staffed by hip Greenpoint locals, this tiny movie rental outlet manages to stock everything you’ve ever wanted to see, from cult classics to indie flicks to foreign films, not to mention more mainstream blockbuster offerings. The movies are organized by country of origin and director, but if you can’t find what you’re looking for, the knowledgable staff will not only locate it for you but give you a recommendation. The only drawback is no drop box; if you can’t return your movie by 11pm, you’ll have to come back the next day, and pay a late fee. Otherwise, thumbs up!

I swear this place must get overlooked all the time, wedged unassumingly into the quarter-block on 9th Street between C-Town and 5th Avenue. But it's really quite good. When I lived at my old apartment, I routinely ordered delivery when I was too lazy to cook. It's a really good alternative to the standard alternating of chinese food and pizza. Admittedly a couple dollars more - but worth it. You actually feel like you're eating a meal, as opposed to fast food.
There's a pretty hefty selection, so chances are you'll find something you like. Though honestly, it's not exactly health food, it tastes good. And it'll fill you up.
I guess it qualifies as Spanish or South American more than any other one place, but they're pretty international in their selection (a favorite of old was their take on Chicken Cordon Bleu). And it's awesome getting friend green plantains instead of run-of-the-mill french fries.
I'll mention that I usually ordered delivery, but the one time I ate in, the service was quick and the food hot and delicious. The environs are nothing to drool over, but they're very comfortable and casual.
If you're a "light n' healthy" eater, this place will likely leave you feeling a bit bogged down. But if you are more meat-and-potatoes, you'll get a nice foreign twist to that "basic staples" meal ordering from Yayo.
Note: To the best of my knowledge, they still serve breakfast. I've never had it, but i used to see a breakfast special sign when I walked by.

This bagel shop is an excellent quick, on the run deal. The bagels are always fresh and the faces serving you are always friendly. The prices are cheap and the service is excellent. They also have drinks that you can have with your bagel. The place is well lit so it pleasant to be there. This place also has varieties of cheam cheeses so it can fit you rmood daily. It makes a very nice breakfast.
