Prospect Park is probably one of the smallest YMCAs in NYC, but for me, it's still one of the best. Granted, it doesn't have as many machines as the other YMCAs, yet it's the one I keep returning to. (I have a CityWide membership, so I can go to any YMCA in the city if I choose.)
The facility just got renovated. The upstairs cardio room has been expanded to add more machines, plus the walls are now painted in neon green and the purple horizontal ceiling lights are arranged in slants. The cozy stretch room was moved during the renovation but is now back in service. The two dance studios are still there; the spinning and yoga classes are extremely popular. There are also new CYBEX machines in the good ol' weight training room.
My only complaints are: 1) the place is packed right after work and you may have to wait a while before getting onto your machine; and 2) some of the new machines have TVs with terrible reception, so if you want to listen to something, either go on one of the other machines near the window (their TV connection is different) or bring your own iPod, as no radios are allowed. (Of course, bring your headphones.) I also wish the pool was larger. It's also old. Nevertheless, Prospect Park is planning to renovate the pool area. It's also nice and warm.
What I really like is the stuff you don't expect in a small gym that only charges $40/month for membership (or about $80/month for CityWide): a nice sauna, steam room, and lots of towels (OK, they've put in a two-towel limit). A Super C grocery store and a CVS pharmacy are also nearby.
Best of all are the people: the staff are very friendly and helpful, and there are lots of 20- to 30- somethings and young families. In fact, at a Manhattan charity, my friends (who live in different parts of the city) and myself recently discussed our gyms--and were surprised to learn that out of the 10 people working at my table, four of us are Prospect Park YMCA members. How cool is that?
Pros: Friendly staff, cool Cardio Room decor, great place to meet 20-40 year olds, great value for money; pool is nice and warm
Cons: One of the smallest NYC YMCAs; not enough machines after work, some with bad TV reception; pool is small

The Greenpoint Y is a gem. Its clean, well-maintained facilities include a pool and a weight room with assorted machines, and it offers all kinds of classes—yoga, tai chi, pilates, aerobics, and more, plus a whole kids’ program with dance, swimming, and summer camp sessions. The best part is that a monthly membership of $40 allows you to sign up for as many classes as you can fit into your schedule, so that the more you take, the cheaper it works out per class. Even at just one weekly yoga class, though, say, it’s less expensive than pretty much anywhere else, and the atmosphere is relaxed and down-to-earth. Also, if you have visitors coming into town, you can send them to stay here guilt-free—the rooms are basic but perfectly nice, and a real bargain. The Village People weren’t kidding around.

Washington Deluxe offers trips between Washington, DC, and New York for $35 roundtrip or $20 one-way. It's definitely a bargain and in some ways more convenient than the (in)famous "Chinatown buses" in that this bus service has dropoff points in places other than Chinatown. The ride is also very comfortable with few stopping points. The key factor is making sure that you get there early enough to actually make it ON the bus...

Two months ago I choose them because of the great recommendation from a friend of mine.. SInce I hadn't experienced moving in over 29 years, I didn't know what to expect. From the moment I called their office to the end it was flawless! I was extremely impressed by them. After hearing so many horrow stories about movers, I was surprised they arrived on time and finished earlier than was quoted. The guys were prompt, professional, courteous. There was good communication every step of the move. These people know their business. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Van Gogh Movers to all my friends and family.
Pros: Knew exactly where they were going
Cons: None

I needed to plan a trip to Asia. I searched online to see what the best price was but was disappointed when the results turned out very high even when it wasn't the peak of the travel season. When I went to the travel agent he got me a very good deal. Although I had to fly economy class, i had saved hundreds of dollars on air fare thanks to Travel Connection. I don't know how they get such low prices but I guess its a trade secret.

More
Story Book land Nursery School is located near the main shopping street of 86th street and next to private residential homes. The owner actually transformed an actual house into a nursery home to children. Outside, there is a large banner displayed the Story Book logo in baby blues and pink lettering. Inside is a well decorated and full of toys and play kitchens and tables for the children to amuse themselves with. Adorned on the walls are the children's artwork and drawings. It is a great place for the kids to spend the day.
