Beacon's Closet is a clothing exchange store 8/9/2011

Beacon's Closet is a clothing exchange store. They selectively buy, sell, and trade used clothing and accessories, from, to, and with the public, on a walk-in basis. Beacon's Closet specializes in both ultramodern and vintage attire. What they buy is dictated by the following factors: season, demand, condition, and inventory levels. more

Impressive is their selection of used CDs and high quality jeans. If you want to look like you paid through the nose to look like you did not spend more than $3 on your whole outfit this place is worth checking out. more

They just have such great stuff at decent prices so you can't go wrong. Also, you can trade in your old clothes for new old clothes which is very exciting, especially if you're unemployed or underemployed! more

This is a great spot to unload some gear 7/28/2011

This is a great spot to unload some gear. The store excepts what is in season and in style, according to Williamsburgh style that is, which is where it is located. The drop-off, cash refund or shopping system is fair, easy to do and fast. The clothes that they do not want, they'll donate for you, which is convienant. Their is a huge selection of used clothing, accessories and music for sale. more

Beacons closet is a nice thrift store 7/25/2011

This is an excellent place 7/21/2011

This is an excellent place to sell any of your vintage or hipster clothing that just doesn't work for you anymore--and it's wonderful to use that money just to get even more clothes! The prices at Beacon's, although high, are definitely better than any prices you'll find at vintage shops in Manhattan. The selection is also always wonderful and varied. more

you will see something to purchase 7/20/2011

Beacon's Closet is just a place you have to see to understand - prices for the vintage clothing are reasonable but it is the truly amazing atmosphere that makes it distinct. The music, the attitude and the funkiness of the clothing selection are just something to behold even if you are not really looking for anything specific, you will see something to purchase. more

staff is very friendly 7/19/2011

The store is easy to move around in and it is not hard to find the type of clothes you want, you just need to search to find the perfect item! The prices are good and the staff is very friendly more

I got a pretty damn good buy here 7/18/2011

I got a pretty damn good buy here - a $160 cashmere sweater for $19.99. The Williamsburg store does seem to have more hipster-esque stuff, but the Park Slope store has a lot of cool stuff too. I got my favorite necklace from here as well more

You HAVE to visit this place 7/15/2011

Rude and Dirty 4/26/2007

I've been going to Beacons for several years and every time I go there, I am so shocked by the attitude of their sales ppl. It was rainy the last time I went, and the whole place stank like wet dogs (there were two wet dogs running around unattended). When I was trying to pay at the register, they found two price tags in one of the items and accused me of tempering with the price tag in front of a line of customers! How dare they! Of course I didn't do such thing and I was so embarrassed and angry that I lost my words. I explained to them that I didn't do it and they finally agreed to sell that very tempered price of $25!!!!!! item to me but I couldn't believe they acted like they were doing me a huge favor! How ridiculous! Every time I go there I was very shocked by their "I am too cool to help you" attitude, but this time it really did it. They do have a very big selection of clothes but more than half of them are cheap H&Ms from last season. And even if you do find some good stuff after hours of searching, their attitude aren't worth your penny. I am never going back there again. more

WOW 3/19/2006

I went to Beacon's Closet for the first time over the weekend to look for some costumes. I didn't find exactly what I was looking for (how many lavender pantsuits are there out there?), but I was amazed at not only the large selection of goods but the ORGANIZATION. I was SO PLEASANT to walk through a thrift/consignment store and be able to approach the search by color without being overwhelmed by overstocked racks and shelves. The items we did find were cheap! What a relief that consignment doesn't mean expensive. I can't wait to go back and find some good shoes (there were even some in my size, which is rare for a 10.5) more

I love this store! 3/17/2006

There is always a great bargain hiding somewhere in here. Pros: cheap prices (Miss Sixty jeans for $18!), good selection, clean! Cons: crowded, small, only 3 fitting rooms. If you're looking for a new pair of jeans or skirt or some generic article of clothing, get it here -- you can get a designer brand for a fraction of the price. They also carry a lot of shoes, but it is hard to find your size. more

Beacon's Closet 3/4/2006

Low on cash? Visit this location to sell your clothes. They pay 35% of what they sell the items for. If you just want to trade your clothes you can do that as well. In which case, they would give you 50% of what you brought in. It is a great big warehouse full of everything you need to fill your closet. Weekends are always packed and it turns into a zoo. Your best bet is to get the quieter days during the week. Open 7 days and there is no appointment necessary to sell or trade. more
